Diversifying Canadian business, one connection at a time.
About us
We often get the question: why do you exist? There are business chambers at the regional and national level, and corporations’ support for 2SLGBTQI initiatives is on the rise. It’s easy to give a by-the-numbers response. Canada is home to over 100,000 2SLGBTQI -owned businesses. These businesses generate over $22 billion in economic activity and employ over 435,000 Canadians. In other words, 2SLGBTQI business is big business. However, 2SLGBTQI entrepreneurs still face barriers. Nearly half have hidden who they were in business dealings to avoid losing opportunities, and more than a third have lost opportunities due to being 2SLGBTQI . There is a growing number of organizations looking to change these stats – one connection at a time. A community of 2SLGBTQI businesses, government liaisons and even diverse procurement practices are helping tip the scales. CGLCC is a coalition of all of these positive forces advocating for change to make a more inclusive Canadian economy possible. We do this by bringing people together, and highlighting the right resources for 2SLGBTQI entrepreneurs to be even more successful. So, the answer is: we exist because 2SLGBTQI entrepreneurs already have a huge impact on the Canadian economy, with barriers. Let’s see what kind of thriving and inclusive Canada is possible when we remove them.

I had the pleasure of speaking at the Canada's 2SLGBTQI Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) "Lunch & Learn" session on September 19th, 2024, in partnership with Futurpreneur I had the pleasure to introduce our programs and offerings to a group of entrepreneurs and aspiring young entrepreneurs in Ottawa This year, I challenged myself to step outside my comfort zone and focus on improving my public speaking skills. Thanks to the amazing sessions I’ve attended at Futurpreneur’s Toastmasters International Club, I came in more confident than I ever been. Shoutout to my fellow club members for their support and excited to continue improving my skills! Thank you to Canada's 2SLGBTQI Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC) and Kim Boucher-Morin for the opportunity!

🌟 SDAC - Supplier Diversity Alliance Canada hosted another fantastic event, and I’m feeling rejuvenated and inspired to continue this important work with passion! 👉🏽 What is SDAC? They unite equity-deserving councils, including CAMSC, Canada's 2SLGBTQI Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC), and Inclusive Workplace and Supply Council of Canada (IWSCC), to collectively influence policy changes with the Canadian government. Additionally, they serve as educators and provide development opportunities for diverse suppliers. 👉🏽 During the panel discussion on "Supplier Diversity During Economic Downturns," Andrea Robinson shared that it took her 12 pitches before she found success with an organization. Lindsay Swanson reminded us to think about 1 thing we can do to help others, which resonated deeply with me. Meeting with suppliers today made me reflect on my role as a connector and how I can provide valuable feedback to support their success. 📢 I encourage everyone to participate in events hosted by our equity-deserving councils. Check out the slide below for upcoming events—these gatherings are excellent opportunities to meet diverse suppliers who drive innovation and tackle challenges that larger organizations might not even recognize. See upcoming events for CAMSC: https://lnkd.in/gE9TdiBx A huge thank you to Alexander Duerksen, Paige Harlock, Pru Girme, and everyone who contributed to making this event a success. Together, we’re forging new connections and fostering supplier diversity!✨ #SupplierDiversity #SDAC #Equity #Innovation #Networking #Community
