This Minister of Health has announced the imminent release of an Interpretation of the Canada Health Act to close loopholes that make Canadians pay out of pocket for medical services. However, if there's no clear exemption, employers might not be able to offer free virtual care through work benefit plans anymore. This could force millions of people into busy ERs and walk-in clinics for issues that could be solved remotely. It's important that communications about virtual care in the public system clearly state that employer-funded virtual health options are allowed. Yesterday's announcement by Minister LeBlanc to remove federal exceptions is a positive step forward to finally having freer trade within Canada. It’s an inexpensive way to help Canadian businesses trade more freely across the country. But there’s still a lot of work to do. We encourage the federal government to keep working with provincial governments and business leaders to eliminate red tape, remove regulatory barriers, and align with our key international trade partners. ➡️ https://bit.ly/4dg3rM1 #trade #freetrade #internationaltrade #tradebarriers #canadianbusiness #canadiantrade #business

At a time of economic uncertainty, when families across the country are struggling with the high cost of living, decisive action is needed. We, alongside the Business Council of Canada, Business Council of British Columbia, Ottawa Board of Trade, Toronto Region Board of Trade, Business Council of Alberta, Business Council of Manitoba, and Ontario Chamber of Commerce, are urging Premier Doug Ford to join the New West Partnership. This move could unlock $4.1 billion in annual economic growth for Ontario and provide much-needed support for families across the province, by boosting household income by approximately $1,000 per family. With food security a top concern for governments around the world, there has never been more opportunity for Canada’s agri-food sector. Our competitors have taken note of this potential and are making unprecedented investments. If we do not act now, the opportunity will pass us by. The upcoming meeting with provincial and territorial counterparts is an opportunity to commit to bold action and unlock the full potential of Canada’s agri-food sector. 🎧 Our very own Patrick Gill, MPPA, Senior Director of Operations & Partnerships at the Business Data Lab, recently joined Roger Pierce's "The Unsure Entrepreneur" podcast to talk about the #productivity gap in Canada and how #GenAI can transform small businesses. Our latest report "Prompting Productivity: Generative AI Adoption by Canadian Businesses", shows that while business interest in AI is high, adoption is still limited, particularly among small businesses. So, where do we go from here? 📖 Read the report for a list of recommendations for business and policymakers: https://lnkd.in/eq6xbSxR 🎙 Listen to "The Unsure Entrepreneur" episode to hear the full conversation: https://lnkd.in/eShv9X73 #AI #GenAI #ArtificialIntelligence #GenerativeArtificialIntelligence #Productivity #CanadianBusiness #SmallBusiness #Innovation #CanadianEconomy
Did you know that over the past decade, Canada's productivity has increased by less than 1% annually, placing us second last in the G7? Weak competition, underutilization of a highly skilled workforce, and insufficient investment in research and equipment are key contributors to this alarming trend. In the latest episode of The Unsure Entrepreneur podcast, I had an enlightening conversation with Patrick Gill, MPPA, Senior Director of Operations at the Business Data Lab at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. We discussed Canada's productivity challenges and the game-changing potential of generative AI (Gen AI) for small businesses. Patrick shared fascinating insights from his alarming report, 'Prompting Productivity' which highlights how AI can bridge Canada's productivity gap. For instance, only 13% of businesses using AI are looking to replace workers with automation. Instead, AI is primarily being used to augment workers' capabilities, streamline operations, and improve quality. By leveraging AI, Patrick believes small businesses can not only enhance their productivity but also gain a competitive edge in the market. "Test something, experiment, measure that experiment, replicate it, and then scale it out," he recommends. Have a listen. In the show summary there's a link to download the free report. #GenAI #Smallbusiness #Entrepreneurship #Canadianbusiness #Productivity #ChamberofCommerce
