CTV News Atlantic recently covered the significant local impact of our work and the growing interest in sustainable solutions right here in Nova Scotia. The story from The Canadian Press, also shared by CTV News, illustrates our commitment to both global climate goals and community engagement. "Limestone-mixing in rivers offers a real chance to combat climate change while restoring ecosystems." – Edmund (Eddie) Halfyard, CTO at CarbonRun. CarbonRun is proud to announce an offtake agreement with Frontier members valued at $25M USD which will remove 55,442 tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere between 2025 and 2029. Through this partnership, we’re scaling this safe, proven method of carbon removal, which holds the potential to reach gigaton levels globally. With Frontier’s support, we'll also conduct critical research to expand the use of river liming to pH-neutral rivers. Learn more about this exciting milestone and the future of river liming! A few weeks ago, the CarbonRun team hosted Brad Plumer from the New York Times at our site on the West River Pictou to demonstrate how we are restoring the natural carbon cycle of rivers using the safe and well-established process of river liming, which captures and transports atmospheric carbon dioxide and terrestrial carbon into the ocean where it is stored for millennia. As we look ahead, we're thrilled to partner with Frontier, a $1B fund supported by tech leaders like Stripe and Alphabet, as we scale this technology to make a lasting impact on global carbon removal. Our second story this week is a biggie in terms of Nova Scotia’s ability to tap in to the world of carbon credits while at the same time improving the health of its rivers. Win-win all ‘round. When two Nova Scotia water quality researchers stumbled upon an unexpected climate change solution during research, they knew they were on to something big, by Pam Sullivan https://lnkd.in/e8j2Wk7x #LCC #novascotia #climatestories Halifax Climate Investment, Innovation and Impact (HCi3) Fund Dalhousie University CarbonRun Edmund (Eddie) Halfyard
