Making Concrete That Matters.

About us

Concrete That Matters: CarbonCure Technologies is on a mission to make concrete a climate solution, reducing embodied carbon emissions in the built environment and transforming concrete plants into a worldwide network of carbon removal factories. Across the global concrete industry, CarbonCure is scaling an integrated decarbonization platform, offering concrete producers a suite of hardware, software and services to reduce the carbon footprint of their concrete products, reduce their production costs and meet the surging demand for green building materials without compromising performance. CarbonCure’s technologies are retrofitted into concrete plants without disrupting operations and seamlessly integrate with existing batching processes. CarbonCure injects captured CO₂ across the concrete manufacturing process, with commercialized solutions for ready mix concrete, precast concrete and reclaimed water. Upon injection, CO₂ immediately mineralizes in concrete, becoming permanently embedded. Even if a structure is later demolished, the nanoparticles of mineralized carbon will not return to the atmosphere. This mineralization also enables producers to reduce the amount of cement needed for each batch of concrete. Carbon XPRIZE Grand Prize winner, Cleantech 100 Hall of Fame Company and a category leader in low carbon concrete technologies and carbon removal, CarbonCure delivers a true win-win, with climate benefits for the world and economic benefits for concrete producers in one of the world's hardest-to-decarbonize industries. Once again, Pan-United Corporation is demonstrating its sustainability leadership. “Using the electric mixer truck will reduce the carbon footprint of transporting ready-mix concrete by 45 percent compared to a legacy truck. The reduction in noise pollution is also a major benefit in Singapore’s dense urban environment.” Learn more from Charged EVs: https://lnkd.in/efzExZwD Earlier this year, PanU announced a new partnership with Cleantech Solar to install 900 solar panels across PanU facilities in Singapore and Malaysia. Meanwhile, PanU has produced 815,000 truckloads of CarbonCure concrete resulting in nearly 85,000 metric tons of CarbonCure CO2 savings to date. CEO at Ozinga | 5th-Generation American 🇺🇸 Family Enterprise

Recently I sat down with my colleague Ryan Cialdella to talk about our experience supplying low carbon concrete. At Ozinga, we’re seeing increasing interest from companies with goals of reducing their scope 3 emissions on their projects. Low carbon ready mix concrete is low hanging fruit for owners building new projects to make an environmental impact. The highest amount of interest has come from the so-called “hyperscalers”, particularly, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Meta, Google & Microsoft. It has been a privilege for us to engage with these companies to tackle this challenge. Ozinga was recently featured in Amazon’s sustainability report for supplying our low carbon, performance based ASTM C1157 cement, which achieved a 64% reduction in embodied carbon compared to the industry average. There is a relatively slow and steady adoption rate but it’s becoming increasingly clear to us that owners of projects are the ones who need to ask for it. Given the amount of data centers that are being built by the hyperscalers now and for the foreseeable future, these demand signals are affirmations that the R&D, education and training around low carbon concrete are worthwhile investments for us and our concrete customers. At Ozinga, our goal is to provide carbon neutral concrete to jobs by 2030. The iMasons Climate Accord Governing Body - with Amazon, Google, Meta, and Microsoft as members - is calling on concrete producers supplying data center construction to support greater transparency in Scope 3 emissions as part of broader efforts to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint. Scope 3 emissions result from activities not owned or controlled by a company, but that the company indirectly affects in its value chain. Via Concrete Products: “In an open letter, [these tech companies] explain the importance of widespread adoption of standardized, third party-verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), outlining the greenhouse gas emissions of a product through its entire lifecycle—from raw materials extraction and processing to manufacturing, transportation, use, and product end-of-life.” Read Concrete Products’ coverage: https://lnkd.in/ezh7uwE9 Read the iMasons Climate Accord’s open letter: https://lnkd.in/dPQRfAtE Demand for lower carbon concrete will only increase. Is your concrete business equipped to tap into this growing market opportunity? CarbonCure can help. Get in touch today. #EPDs #Scope3 #Concrete #GreenConcrete

According to data from commercial real estate firm CBRE, because of artificial intelligence (AI) and massive computing needs, Big Tech companies are poised to double their existing data center capacity. But as that AI-driven data center construction skyrockets, most of these companies also aim to meet corporate sustainability goals. And meeting those goals will require strategies and innovation - by corporates, builders and designers - to reduce or eliminate embodied carbon emissions from building materials and construction. That’s why concrete producers should get ahead of the curve by adopting CarbonCure and other solutions to produce lower carbon concrete, tap into this demand and win those bids. Dig deeper into Scope 3 emissions with Data Center Knowledge: https://lnkd.in/d8jgUb3k Then learn more about CarbonCure’s technologies for lower carbon concrete: https://lnkd.in/eVn7kGs #CarbonCure #DataCenterConstruction #Concrete #EmbodiedCarbon

Listen up! Ozinga CEO Marty Ozinga and VP of Innovation & Market Development Ryan Cialdella recently hosted Build With Strength's Concrete Credentials podcast, offering their insights on concrete innovation at Ozinga and the wider industry's embrace of new materials and methods to enhance sustainability. Hear the podcast episode here: https://lnkd.in/gjAjHMCD "We are continuing to look at new materials that are out there. And as you mentioned, death by a thousand cuts - just a little bit here, a little bit there. And we're getting far, we're getting close. But I do believe there's going to be this tipping point, where we're going to have to see some of these innovative materials, these newer technologies - whether it's through carbon capture and sequestration or taking other waste materials and figuring out how do we carbonate them - and almost come up with a carbon negative product to put in our concrete. To me, I really feel like that's going to be the next big move," Ryan said. In the podcast episode, Marty also shared more about the family company's history. Established in 1928 in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Ozinga survived the Great Depression and World War II before becoming one of the first ready mix providers in the region. For four generations, the Ozinga team has continuously expanded its product and service offerings to meet the needs of builders throughout Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, and South Florida - all while pushing the boundaries of what's possible to deliver the highest quality, lowest carbon concrete materials. Back in 2017, Ozinga became the first supplier in the Chicago area to introduce CarbonCure into concrete mixes. Since then, Ozinga has supplied more than 863,000 truckloads carrying 6.8 million cubic yards of green concrete made with our technologies, translating to fleet-wide CarbonCure carbon savings equivalent to the annual carbon sequestration capacity of more than 79,000 acres of forest. Join us as we celebrate Ozinga's pursuit of excellence, innovation and its efforts elevate industry standards and promote sustainable construction practices. Here’s to their continued success and commitment to building a better future! #CarbonCure #Concrete #ConcreteInnovation #Ozinga
