Carbon Alpha’s Lee Hunt will be presenting two e-posters at the IEAGHG conference, GHGT-17 next week at the Telus Convention Center in #Calgary. He will be presenting a talk on Theseus from 2:00 – 2:11pm and a talk on 24D seismic technique from 2:12-2:23 pm on Wednesday October 23rd in the C1 e-poster location. Theseus and 24D explore a novel seismic technique that reduces lifecycle costs for #MMV in CO2 storage. You can check out the posters ahead of time using the following links. We are proud to share a significant milestone as we advance our North Star carbon dioxide removal (CDR) project, in partnership with the Meadow Lake Tribal Council. North Star is now Canada’s first project listed on Puro.earth, the world's leading carbon-crediting platform for durable CDR! Puro.earth reviewed technical criteria, environmental safeguards, community co-benefits, biomass sustainability and lifecycle assessment, to ensure North Star can achieve legitimate carbon removals. Find the press release here: https://lnkd.in/gXmZQEzE If you are interested in procuring CDR credits from North Star, contact us at [email protected] #CDR #CCS #VoluntaryCarbonMarket #Sustainability #BECCS

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a day to recognize the history and lasting effects of residential schools and to acknowledge and honor the children who never made it home, the survivors, and their families and communities. We encourage you to take some time to reflect on the importance of today, and to learn more about Indigenous culture and history as a step towards reconciliation. #NDTR

Jamie Stephen does an excellent job highlighting where opportunities lie for #Canada to be a leader in carbon removals. He outlines how #BECCS is one such opportunity that would reduce GHG emissions while increasing economic growth. Carbon Alpha sees the potential in BECCS, demonstrated by the work we are doing on our North Star project. Learn more about North Star on our website https://lnkd.in/eKpCWqTb
What is the problem with Canada's climate policy? It isn't designed for Canada. In this Policy Magazine article I argue that our policies don't reflect Canada's economy, northern climate, or energy system. This has led us to a place where the public is disillusioned and sees climate action as nothing but a cost. The ranking importance of climate action for Canadians has dropped precipitously. Going forward, we need to focus on activities in which Canada has a competitive advantage and that accelerate our export-dependent economy. Amongst these, I believe BECCS offers the greatest potential to reduce GHG emissions AND increase economic growth. Plus, it allows us to implement Climate Smart, active forest management to dramatically cut GHG and air pollution from our largest source - wildfires. We can be the world leader in the growing carbon removal industry and we can play a critical role in decarbonization beyond our borders. Thanks to Forest Products Association of Canada for the opportunity.

Lee Hunt presented at Carbon Capture Canada's Knowledge Bar: 'Theseus 24D Minimal Environment Disturbance and Capital Seismic MMV Method.' This innovative seismic design can reduce onshore MMV project costs by 57%! The Theseus-24D design and modeling was a joint effort between Carbon Alpha and BJV Design Inc.. Co-authors include Eric Street, Graham Hack, Jason Schweigert, and Matthew Allen. The Theseus/24D experiment results are available in the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists - CSEG's publications database. We invite you to explore this novel concept and apply it to your own MMV programs. We can achieve more when we work together! Visit Carbon Alpha's website to access the papers and learn more about Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), including our recently announced North Star BECCS project. (link posted in the comments) Carbon Alpha specializes in CO2 transportation and geologic storage, from initial scoping and feasibility studies all the way to drilling and longterm monitoring. Our operational expertise and technical skills provide custom solutions for our clients' unique project needs. Please reach out if we can help your company achieve its emissions reduction targets! #ccs #cdr #ccus #carbonmarkets #carbonstorage #co2sequestration #climatechange #emissionsreductions #geophysics #seismic #mmv #knowledgesharing #carbonmarkets #carboncredits

Carbon Alpha reposted this
Last night's dinner at the historic Fairmont Hotel Macdonald was amazing! The conversation with my Carbon Alpha colleagues was even better. (Octopuses>Octopi, Bob Bryden! Luckily, we can meet in the middle with the Greek derivation 'Octopodes'.) Cephalopod debates aside, it's always a treat to be in the company of these fine gentlemen 😊 Come find us on the exhibition floor at Carbon Capture Canada 2024! We would love to share our technical expertise on all things CDR/CCS transportation and storage. Let's discuss how we can help you achieve your emissions reduction targets. I also plan to attend the Young Women in Energy (YWE) Networking event tonight from 4-6 -- all genders are welcome if you didn't already register. Enjoy the final day at the convention center, everyone!

Carbon Alpha’s Lee Hunt is a featured speaker at next week’s Carbon Capture Canada Knowledge Bar where he will discuss a new method for Onshore CCS Seismic MMV called Theseus 24D. This method was developed by Carbon Alpha’s Lee Hunt, Eric Street and Graham Hack in partnership with BJV Design Inc.’s Jason Schweigert and Matthew Allen. You can attend this presentation at the Worley Knowledge Bar (See the attached map) on September 10th from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Carbon Alpha team members Patrick Elliott, Philip Hosty, Taylor Berezowski, Ryan Lemiski, Bob Bryden and Slade Thornhill will also be in attendance so be sure to stop by! #CCS #CCUS #CarbonStorage #MMV #Theseus24D #Geology #Geophysics #Seismic #CarbonCapture #CarbonCaptureandStorage #CDR #CarbonCaptureCanada https://lnkd.in/d6xtiWw3
