Security Officer John Whieldon has extraordinary dedication and life-saving abilities at Strathmore Hospital in Alberta. . In one instance, during a particularly busy time at the hospital, Officer Whieldon noticed an individual among the patients waiting for triage, who looked to be dazed and confused. Recognizing the man was in medical distress and was potentially suffering a stroke, Officer Whieldon immediately escorted him to the front of the line and alerted the triage nurse. . The man was diagnosed with a perforated aorta, and thanks to Officer Whieldon’s prompt assistance, his life was saved. Ten days later, the man returned to the hospital to thank him for his lifesaving intervention. . In another instance, Officer Whieldon assisted paramedics with an unresponsive patient who was suffering from a fentanyl overdose. His quick thinking and recognition of the patient led to the administration of the correct medication, ultimately saving the patient’s life. . Immediate care for severely injured individual saved a life One bitterly cold evening, in the course of his regular duties, Paladin Security Officer David Styles came across an individual on the exterior of the site who was dressed in very little clothing and looked to be in distress. . Upon closer examination, Officer Styles discovered that the individual had been badly beaten with severe head and face trauma, and had been dropped off at the side of the road in the cold. . Officer Styles immediately called 911 and ensured that the individual received the help they needed. The person was hospitalized for multiple days as a result of the injuries they’d received. In June 2024, Paragon Security Mobile Supervisor Duane Montpetit was attending a regular site where he wakes the unhoused before the library opens. . During his regular patrol, he noticed an individual who was slumped over in a chair and who did not appear to be breathing. With the help of Ajax Parks Guard Santosh Singh, he immediately began CPR, administered three shots of narcan and called 911. . Ultimately, the individual regained consciousness and was able to get further help from the local authorities.
