Appointment bookings at our blood and plasma donor centres across the country are not keeping pace with the rise in demand for blood products. Currently, only about 80 per cent of the available appointments are booked each week, leaving the national supply at risk of falling short as the summer rolls on and the supply dwindles. Patients are counting on people making the time to donate, to ensure a steady supply of blood and blood products. You can be part of the solution. If you’ve never donated before, there is no better time to start. If you are an existing donor, you can double your impact and help grow the community by inviting a new donor to join you when you make your appointment this summer. Book an appointment now at https://ow.ly/iKLR50Sqrg8

We were thrilled to be at Saskatoon Pride this past weekend! And we’re looking forward to our next stop – Toronto Pride, June 27-30! 🌈 Throughout Pride season this summer, we will have booths at various Pride events all across the country with staff available to answer your questions about sexual behaviour-based screening, our recent apology to 2SLGBTQIA communities and so much more. Our goal in attending these festivals is to further build awareness of current donor screening criteria and Canadian Blood Services’ ongoing work to improve inclusion within our processes and policies and in all interactions with 2SLGBTQIA communities. For more information about sexual behaviour-based screening, visit https://ow.ly/o74c50SpXb9

Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited condition in Canada. It can cause excruciating pain and organ failure. And blood is often essential for treatment. This condition is also more frequent among those whose ancestors are from Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America, the Middle East and South Asia. Since blood types are inherited, this means that people living with sickle cell disease often rely on blood from donors of similar ancestry. A more diverse donor base can help provide the best health outcome for people living with sickle cell disease. This World Sickle Cell Day, visit https://lnkd.in/gXNW6usn to meet some sickle cell warriors and book to donate. #WorldSickleCellDay #SickleCellWarrior #SickleCellDisease #BloodForLife

The biggest #ThankYou goes out to the best donors in the world ❤️ 🌍 Every year countries around the world celebrate #WorldBloodDonorDay. The event serves to raise awareness of the need for blood and blood products and to thank donors for their life-saving gifts. Thank you to everyone who has donated blood, plasma, platelets, or supported #CanadasLifeline in any way. Without our donors and supporters alike, we wouldn’t be able to serve patients in need in Canada. You truly do make all the difference. #CanadianBloodServices #WBDD
