This is Canadian Airports Safety Week and airports across the country are sharing best practices, hosting sessions and events to continue to foster a culture of safety. It's not just about following regulations; it's about creating a mindset where everyone feels empowered to identify and address potential hazards to people, to the environment, and to the safe operations within the airport ecosystem. Airports continue to prioritize safety in all aspects of operations, and by collaborating with partners and stakeholders, we can make a significant difference and ensure the well-being of our passengers, employees, and communities. #CASW #Airports #SafetyFirst #SafetyCulture

Another milestone in drone technology! Yesterday, Drone Delivery Canada's Canary took flight on a new route from Edmonton International Airport (YEG) to the Akamihk Medical Clinic in Montana First Nation. This innovative partnership is a game-changer, especially for rural and remote communities. Drones can revolutionize supply chains, offering efficient and sustainable solutions. By connecting communities and ensuring timely delivery of essential goods, we're opening up new possibilities. It's a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation.
The Canary, Drone Delivery Canada’s latest drone technology at YEG, celebrated the launch of its new route from the airport to Montana First Nation's Akamihk Medical Clinic in the City of Leduc yesterday. Thanks to an innovative partnership with Drone Delivery Canada, Apple Express Courier Ltd., BBE Supply Chain Co., Montana First Nation, the City of Leduc and Leduc County, YEG’s newest commercial drone will be able to sustainably transport first- and final-mile time-sensitive products more effectively. E-commerce drones bring convenience and opportunity to all communities, including remote communities that may not have access to certain goods without the use of drones. This project is helping to open doors for efficient and sustainable commercialized drone delivery. To learn more, please visit flyeia.com/drone-phase2.

I'm thrilled to share that CATSA / ACSTA has successfully launched its new CT technology at YVR (Vancouver Airport Authority). This upgraded technology will significantly enhance airport security screening while providing a more streamlined experience for passengers. By allowing travellers to keep liquids, aerosols, gels, and larger electronics in their carry-on bags, this technology will make the security process more efficient and convenient. This is a major step forward in our commitment to delivering world-class aviation security while improving the passenger experience. Hats off to the CATSA team and the Vancouver International Airport team for your collaboration on this pilot project. I'm excited to see this technology continue to roll out across Canada in the coming years.
It's here! Checkpoint ABC is officially open! Completely renovated and expanded, domestic passengers will enjoy this brand new, state-of-the-art space, making for a more seamless security screening process. As the first Canadian airport to adopt CATSA / ACSTA Plus technology, YVR is dedicated to being a leader and innovating the passenger experience. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gTgCUv9X . . Ça y est ! Le point de contrôle ABC est officiellement ouvert ! Entièrement rénové et agrandi, les passagers des vols intérieurs pourront profiter de cet espace ultramoderne, offrant un processus de contrôle de sécurité plus fluide. Our airports are already run like businesses. They’re private corporations without the sky-high fees typically seen at airports with for-profit ownership. The Canadian model has been an infrastructure success story and, as we look to the future, we need to evolve the right way so air travel remains accessible and affordable for Canadians.
It’s a common story that government should be run like a business: Find efficiencies, avoid unnecessary costs and fees, consider the customer, privatize where appropriate. Thirty years ago, this was the theory behind the divestiture of Canada’s airports from federal control. Transferring these facilities to private, non-share airport authorities was an elegant balancing act designed to make them run like businesses while acknowledging that air travel remains a public good in a country as large as ours 🇨🇦✈️ Read my piece in today’s Financial Post for what is needed👇🏼 #airports #affordability #airtravel #aviation
Monette Pasher: Canada's airports are already private — selling them to for-profit owners will just mean higher fees

While airports in major cities are seeing air service at or above 2019 levels, many smaller regional airports are experiencing the very opposite. Many factors contribute to this decline in air service, resulting in many remote communities being disconnected from the rest of the country - a disadvantage both socially and economically for these Canadians.
Opinion: Canada is losing flight routes. This has serious consequences.
