There is a buzz of excitement at YHZ today for #AirportWorkersDay 🛫 Pleased to join Minister Sean Fraser and Nova Scotia MPs and Joyce Carter and they announced $8.4 million in federal funding through the National Trade Corridor Fund for an $18 million International Connections Facility at Halifax International Airport Authority. Over the next decade this project will create 4,000 jobs as the airport will be able to accommodate more transatlantic flights and cargo. 🦺 Re-connected with Smittie from Air Canada who’s been working in baggage handling at airports for 39 years, including YYG and YHZ. 🏆 Big applause for Leanna Anderson, B.Sc. for being awarded with Canada’s Airports Award for Operational Excellence. Thanks for all you do.

Le CAC participe au Forum des comités de l'ACI World à Montréal aux côtés de plusieurs aéroports canadiens. Cet événement rassemble les six comités permanents mondiaux de l'ACI et leurs sous-groupes afin de partager les connaissances et de collaborer sur les meilleures pratiques mondiales avec plus de 300 membres de comités.    Le discours d'ouverture a été prononcé par Yves Beauchamp, PDG de YUL. Kendra Kincade, PDG d'Elevate Aviation, a fait une présentation lors des sessions plénières, qui ont couvert une série de sujets hautement prioritaires pour la communauté. CAC is attending ACI’s World Committee Forum in Montreal alongside several Canadian airports. This event brings together all six ACI World Standing Committees and their subgroups to share knowledge and collaborate on global best practices with more than 300 committee members.    Opening remarks were done by Yves Beauchamp, CEO of YUL. Elevate Aviation’s CEO, Kendra Kincade, presented during the Plenary Sessions, which covered a range of topics of high priority to the aviation community. ACI World - Airports Council International

Our airport CEOs met in Charlottetown to discuss regional connectivity and advancements in innovation and aviation eco-system efficiency. We were pleased to have special events and guests join us to share their views on how our airports can assist passengers while improving the social fabric of communities. We all have a role to play. ✈️Stephanie Cadieux Canada’s Chief Accessibility Officer shared insight on best practices and next steps from Canada’s first aviation accessibility summit. 🌻 Paul Brandt founder of Not In My City, discussed ways aviation partners and airports are working together to disrupt human trafficking. It’s making a difference and we can all do more to raise awareness of this issue. Thanks Paul for bringing your light to a very difficult topic. 🎥 We held a special viewing of Elevate Aviation’s documentary Only Up ⬆️ promoting diverse careers for women in aviation. Well done Kendra Kincade, we are proud supporters and in awe of what you’ve accomplished.👏🏻 🏖️ Tourism PEI joined us to share their views on the importance of investing in and supporting air access development. A big thanks for the Island hospitality. 🎻 💡 Intervistas Solomon Wong provided insight on global trends, market shifts and what factors are at play for some of the challenges we are facing with regional connectivity in Canadian communities. Thanks for hosting YYG Doug Newson and thanks to all speakers and attendees for the inspiration and added motivation to continue to do more, to do better.

Thank you to the C-SAF members for coming together for a last-minute meeting with the Federal Minister of Transport - Pablo Rodriguez to discuss the opportunities and challenges of building sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) production in Canada.

Le transport aérien n'est possible que grâce à un réseau dynamique de spécialistes qui travaillent avec diligence et de concert pour assurer le déplacement sécuritaire et sans encombre des personnes et des marchandises. Nous prévoyons que plus de 150 millions de passagers transiteront par les aéroports canadiens cette année, ce qui créera 200 000 emplois directs dans les aéroports.  Des opérateurs d'équipement aux agents au-dessus des ailes, des agents de sécurité aux agents en dessous des ailes, des mécaniciens, des pompiers et des employés administratifs - les professions et les parcours de carrière au sein de nos aéroports sont aussi diversifiés que les personnes qui les occupent.   Le 26 juin 2024, les aéroports de tous les coins du pays célébreront les personnes qui font avancer le Canada à l'occasion de la première journée des travailleurs aéroportuaires.
