“Increasing the cost of capital might appear to be good politics to some, but it is bad economic policy for all. Wealth redistribution is not wealth creation and the spending measures introduced today will saddle Canadians with debt without encouraging the strong and sustained economic growth they deserve.” Read and share our CEO Goldy Hyder’s full response to #Budget2024 ⤵️

“LNG appears to be one of the biggest opportunities for us [Canada] in the Indo-pacific region, certainly in the short to medium term, perhaps even longer. We’re really excited to see #LNGCanada come online – it’s a significant project that will have a huge impact, not just on our bilateral relationship with #Japan and our overall #trade flows but it will also have an impact on regional security.” - Trevor Kennedy, Vice President, Indo-Pacific, Business Council of Canada, discusses the potential of Canadian LNG in the global energy market landscape. #LNG #CanadianEnergy #EnergySecurity #GlobalTrade #IndoPacific #CanadianLNG #NaturalGas #NaturalGasCanada #CanadaJapan

*** “Canadian business leaders are optimistic about this new chapter in our economic partnership with Mexico. Even in an era of immense global change when many countries, including both Canada and Mexico, are experiencing deep political and economic changes, these trends cannot deter us from more ambitious and consequential conversations about trade and investment opportunities.” Building off our joint report with the Mexican Business Council from 2022, our CEO Goldy Hyder's latest contribution to El Universal highlights the opportunities Canada and Mexico have for deeper cooperation and advancing #CUSMA. This week the BCC team on the ground in Mexico for the North Capital Forum to strengthen our economic and investment ties. *** Click here for the original Spanish publication: https://lnkd.in/eSHka9eq And read the English version here: https://lnkd.in/eBipZQAQ

Today we humbly reflect on the tragic legacy of Canada’s residential schools. We also look to the future and ways that we can all contribute to meaningful reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. It was an honor to attend the Business Council of Canada (BCC) reception in Washington, DC, as we celebrated the opening of their Washington, DC office. The BCC plays a critical role in advancing Canadian business interests on the global stage, and the event provided an excellent opportunity to connect with leaders dedicated to fostering bilateral trade, investment, and economic prosperity. As I step into the role of Chair in 2025, I am excited about the opportunities ahead to help BCC members champion policies that promote innovation, sustainability, and growth. Canada is the top trade partner for the United States, and CN is proud to help enable this trade throughout the North American economy.

“The de facto production caps under consideration by the Canadian government threaten to severely restrict cross-border energy trade in a way that harms our shared economic and security interests.” - BCC VP Michael Gullo - U.S. Chamber of Commerce VP Dan Byers 🇺🇸🇨🇦 #FriendsAlliesPartners
We should all be proud of Canada's long history of working with our closest ally and partner, the United States, in strengthening energy security in North America – and our partnership must never be taken for granted. Energy trade is critical to each country’s security and economic prosperity and should be protected at all costs as we navigate an era of heightened geopolitical tension and economic nationalism. I was proud to join U.S. Chamber of Commerce VP Dan Byers in writing a joint op-ed about how the Canadian government's proposed emissions cap could restrict cross-border energy trade and threaten our shared economic and security interests. Safeguarding our energy security must be a priority for both countries as we develop new technologies to help lower global emissions. #FriendsAlliesPartners Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/etsu8YfA
