BFN’s super power is our community, and we want to give some people their flowers! For the last four months, our amazing BFN entrepreneurs and experts in residence have played a pivotal role in supporting the current founders in our flagship programs (#BFNAccelerate & #BFNSmartStart). Successful #Blackfounders themselves, their experiences and skills have provided immense value to those coming after them. Many of them graduated from the same programs in the past, and we believe it’s important for Black founders to learn from experts with shared lived experiences As we gear up for our Demo Day & 3rd Anniversary tomorrow by 4:30pm, we are excited to see the results of their hard work with our graduating 2024 cohorts You can learn more and join the celebration here: https://lnkd.in/gEZNFs7R Tanika, Ehi, Aileen, Edgar, Mthabisi, Angela, Tosin, Adetola, Folasade, Kimberly, Munachi, Romeo

BFN Smart Start 2023 Founder | Founder & CEO of Autinerary | CS, Cog Sci & Math Co-op @ UofT | UCC Class of '21

This, without a doubt, marks the biggest milestone in my 20 years on this planet so far. Beyond excited to finally announce Autinerary’s next big step: a 4-month, $15,000 research partnership with MITACS! We’re going to be doing some critical research into the lifestyle of the autism community, and the hope is that we’re going to get the entire community - as well as allies - involved nationwide! A huge thank you to the Black Founders Network for introducing me to this opportunitiy, as well as Christopher Dixon, PhD for making the application process easier, and Philip Asare, for being my Academic Supervisor! I cannot wait to show you what we have planned for the next 4 months 🚀

    Co-founder of Node App (Techstars '21) | Ex-Google Designer

Super excited to announce that Node App has been acquired by DULCEDO Management! It was a WILD ride! 😃 Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way. This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of family, friends, colleagues, investors, and customers. When I co-founded Node with Armin and Preet, I was a 21-year-old student at the University of Waterloo. Back then, all I knew was that I loved building products with friends. I never thought it would evolve into a 7-year journey where I spent most of my 20s dedicating my heart and soul into our vision to democratize influencer marketing. Now, I’m thrilled to continue this journey with Karim Leduc, Karim Rekik, Benjamin Rubenstein-Carter and the team at Dulcedo, and take our vision to the next level. New products are coming soon 👀 The Marathon Continues 🚀

Policy Advocacy Lead, Office of the African Union Special Envoy on Youth, Cabinet of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission

Been an insightful few days spent in Canada 🇨🇦, specifically in Montreal, putting final touches coordinating on the Implementation of the Inaugural Africa-Canada Youth Symposium together with colleagues on behalf of the Office of the African Union Chairpersons Envoy on Youth. This symposium is one for the books, as it aims to bridge the gap between these two vibrant regions by creating a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and mutual learning on advancing Education, Socio-Economic Development and Public health (with a specific focus on Mental Health). The symposium will bring together young leaders, activists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from Africa and Canada to discuss pressing issues, share experiences, and explore opportunities for collaboration. Tonight’s scheduled gathering reflects the principles enshrined in Article 21 of the African Youth Charter, which underscores the critical role of Diaspora youth participation in shaping societal progress. Under the Leadership of the AU Youth Envoy, Ms Chido Mpemba; we look forward to a fruitful engagement with the Canadian Diaspora on how we can foster an ecosystem of Unity, Solidarity and Collective action for the advancement of our Continent Many thanks to partners Tribe Network and Black Founders Network for supporting the implementation of this initiative. #Agenda2063 #AfricaYouthLed

Here’s the thing about being an immigrant, about being black, about being in the minority. You’ll find out the system is not exactly designed for you. But here’s the good part. We can come together to change that. Whether you're: 1. New immigrant seeking opportunities, 2. Seasoned professional looking for a community, 3. Co-Founder/COO @ CELLECT. | Founder/Director @The STEMite Zone Fair

Seeing these Young African Innovators dance to a song I wrote and recorded for them gives me so much joy! One of the beautiful gifts of art is its ability to shape & influence culture in a much easier way. When I set out founding the STEMite Zone, this was my goal. We are on a mission to influence the culture of young Africans, bringing them to a consciousness of curiosity and innovation. What better complimentary tool to do that than through art; through music?! This is the second piece in our growing portfolio of songs. The plan is to churn out a new one every year, released at the Science fair! If you want to join in the dance like these energetic young innovators, it’s available on all music platforms! Just type out ‘Na you Fit Reply’ which translates to ‘you’re the one to respond’… to your world’s problems. We are currently seeking corporate sponsorships for next year’s event. Kindly send me DM if your company may be interested. The STEMite Zone Imanma Tiffany Egeonu Omotara Agoye Charley Kiroha #thestemitezonefair #staycurious #youngafricaninnovators
