This year, our Indigenous Relations team invited young Indigenous artists from across Turtle Island to design Bird’s 2024 Truth & Reconciliation hard hat sticker. The winning design was created by Kiley Fediuk, a 19-year-old Métis artist from Alberta, living in Treaty 6 territory. Inspired by traditional Métis beadwork, Kiley’s artwork is featured on banners and stickers printed by Print & Platen, an Indigenous-owned company in Treaty 6 territory. A portion of the proceeds from each sticker were donated to the Orange Shirt Foundation to support Residential School Survivors and their families. 🧡 #TruthAndReconciliation #OrangeShirtDay

We were honoured to sponsor the annual Hard Hat Ceremony last week! 👷 Hosted by the Civil & Environmental Engineering Students’ Society of University of Alberta, this annual ceremony welcomes Civil Engineering students and helps them build connections within the University's student group and the engineering industry. The event included presentations from industry professionals, including our very own Hind Rahime and Raymond Leblanc, who gave students a brief snapshot of their educational journeys in engineering and how it shaped their careers. Events like these serve as an excellent reminder of the importance of community involvement and we look forward to continuing our sponsorship of this event! Special thanks to Julie Kim, P. Eng (김주희) for organizing Bird's sponsorship of the event.
