    This week, it was a pleasure to host so many members of CREW Vancouver and participants during this year’s CREW Network event in Vancouver. We welcomed a dynamic group of international commercial real estate leaders to our Fraser Mills Presentation Centre for an in-depth discussion and tour of the Fraser Mills Business Centre, which is currently under construction in this sought-after waterfront masterplan community in Coquitlam.     Raising over $10,000 for the wonderful work of MoreSports BC, our 9th annual ball hockey tournament was one for the books. Thank you to everyone who came out to play or cheer on our players, from our on-site crews to leadership, while supporting local sports programs for children. We had an amazing time in friendly competition with teams from B&B Contracting, Vantech, Harrigans, and Canem, with the Beedie Living team taking home the trophy. A special thank you to Lafarge for helping us reach our fundraising goal and to the City of Burnaby for once again providing the perfect venue. See you next year!

    This is a milestone week for Beedie, beginning with Darren Brattston’s 20th anniversary on our team. As Director of Asset Management & Development for Beedie Living, Darren has been a key part of the growth and success of our residential projects, while always inspiring the next generation of professionals who walk through our doors. To celebrate 20 years at Beedie, we recently spoke to Darren about his experience and what he’d like to pass on to new industry members. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞? After feeling limited in my role as a junior accountant at a credit card company, I realized I needed a change. Commercial real estate appealed to me, as it promised the challenge I was looking for. My first experience in the industry was with CBRE in their commercial real estate appraisal division, followed by a transition into brokerage. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲? I was thrilled when Rob Fiorvento and I joined Beedie, given their strong reputation within the brokerage community and the relationship we built over the years with Keith and Ryan. We were challenged with the opportunity to diversify Beedie’s holdings and lay the foundation for Beedie Living. Keith Beedie’s legacy, combined with Ryan Beedie’s passion for the business, its people, and philanthropy, has created an infectious energy throughout the company. This is reflected in every Beedie team member I've worked with—they treat the business as their own and are dedicated to making a positive impact both in the office and in the community. We all bleed Beedie blue! 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞? My advice for those starting out in the real estate industry is to find a mentor who can provide guidance to help you navigate both challenges and opportunities. I had the good fortune of meeting Rob Fiorvento about 24 years ago and his extensive knowledge has been instrumental in shaping my career. From our time together at Colliers to starting at Beedie and laying the foundation of Beedie Living 20 years ago, Rob has consistently encouraged my personal and professional growth, keeping me motivated to improve.

    Yesterday, we hosted a group of local brokers at the Fraser Mills Presentation Centre to share details about our Fraser Mills Business Centre, now well under construction and slated for completion by the end of this year. It was an incredible turnout of industry professionals and we had an amazing time speaking to the vision for this industrial development on the banks of the Fraser.
