The event will start at 8 am on Sunday, June 30th. At the event in March 2024, Gerry said “the fact that everyone else that was going to be on the track was also on the spectrum helped with [my son’s] anxiety, and there was certainly a wide range of abilities. Meet Alyssa (she/they), who went through most of their life knowing they were different, but never really understanding why. Throughout her journey, Alyssa has encountered resistance and skepticism from medical professionals regarding her autism diagnosis due to her ability to mask. However, she remains steadfast in her belief that autism is diverse and manifests in various ways, challenging stereotypes and advocating for greater understanding and acceptance. Today, as a Champion of Change for Autism Speaks Canada and advocating for autistic people all over the world, including the unique experiences of LGBTQ autistic people like themself.
