Alberta: A Leader in Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) 🌿 Alberta is set to lead Canada in carbon capture thanks to its ideal geography, strong policies, and energy expertise. With 79,000 megatonnes of underground storage capacity, the province is attracting significant investment. 🔹 New Projects: Two CCS projects approved in August 2024 (Shell & ATCO, Entropy Inc.) will capture 810,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, equal to taking 200,000 cars off the road. 🔹 Supportive Policies: Alberta’s TIER regulation and federal tax credits make CCS financially viable, further driving growth and innovation in emissions reduction. TIER's ability to generate carbon credits makes it appealing for companies considering CCS. As investment in CCS grows, Alberta continues to lead the way, creating a sustainable path for Canada's energy future. 🚀🌍

💼 Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses: Relief Is on the Way! 🌱 The Canadian federal government will distribute over $2.5 billion in carbon rebates to 600,000 small and medium-sized businesses by December n2024. This rebate (a refundable tax credit) returns a portion of carbon price revenue to businesses in provinces where the federal fuel charge applies. 📌 Key Details: 🔸Rebates cover the 2019-2023 fuel charge years and are calculated based on the number of employees in eligible provinces. 🔸No application required! The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will calculate and automatically issue payments to qualifying businesses. 🔸Businesses must have employed at least one worker in a designated province and had fewer than 500 employees to qualify. This financial support is crucial in helping small businesses offset carbon-related costs while contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable Canada.

📉 The power prices are getting back to their historical equilibrium! The electricity prices for August 2024 were nearly 60% lower year-over-year compared to August 2023. Here’s a look at the average monthly pool price for the four major providers (ENMAX, EPCOR, FortisAlberta, ATCO Electric) across Alberta: 🔸 July 2023: 27.50 ¢/kWh → July 2024: 11.86 ¢/kWh 🔸 August 2023: 32.27 ¢/kWh → August 2024: 13.19 ¢/kWh ⚡The downward trend in Alberta’s power market began at the beginning of t 2024, signalling a substantial relief for consumers who faced high electricity costs over the past year. The stabilization of #naturalgas prices, increased power generation, government interventions, and market adjustments have collectively contributed to lowering electricity prices in the province. 💡Even though this downward trend signals a return to more stable and predictable energy costs, factors such as demand fluctuations and market conditions could still influence future pricing.
