  • The #Alberta Advantage is driving economic growth. Alberta’s business-friendly environment, diverse sectors, strong labour force and livable cities set the stage for a prosperous #economy in the second quarter of 2024. Over the last three months, the province has been a magnet for high impact capital investments and new business formations. As Alberta’s economy continues to attract investment, grow and diversify, jobs are being created across industries and throughout the province. In the second quarter, 75,000 more workers were employed across a range of sectors when compared to the same period last year. In the first six months of 2024, Alberta had a record level of new business incorporations, up 12.8% from last year, the highest provincial growth in Canada.   According to the CIBC’s latest Economic Forecast, by 2025, with its rich resources and innovative spirit, Alberta is poised to drive significant economic growth and to set a new standard for prosperity and leadership in the global marketplace. • #Alberta continues to drive job gains in Canada. Our province added 8,100 new jobs in June, bringing the total of employed Albertans to 2,525,200. These gains represented an increase of 0.3% month over month, while the national employment declined. Alberta has accounted for 19.5% of all the job gains in the country over the last twelve months. Alberta’s continued job gains are important for our province’s rapidly growing population and are critical to helping to meet labour needs in sectors across our economy.

  • Today, ministers Matt Jones, CFA and Randy Boissonnault announced that more than $78 million is being invested through the Early Learning and Child Care Infrastructure Fund to support the creation of high-quality, affordable and inclusive child-care spaces where Alberta families need them most. This funding will help bolster Alberta’s efforts to create new spaces in underserved locations, particularly in rural and remote communities across the province, while we work towards achieving $10 per day child care by 2026.
