Empowering People To Act On Climate Change!

About us

The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre coordinates the region’s response to climate change. Officially opened in August 2005, the Centre is the key node for information on climate change issues and the region’s response to managing and adapting to climate change. It is a repository and clearing house for regional climate change information and data and provides climate change-related policy advice and guidelines to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States through the CARICOM Secretariat. In this role, the Centre is recognised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and other international agencies as the focal point for climate change issues in the Caribbean. It has also been recognised by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) as a Centre of Excellence, one of an elite few.

  • The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) gathers negotiators and ministers each year for The CARICOM Preparatory to the UNFCCC COP 29 Negotiators and Ministerial Meetings, paving the way for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP). This year's COP29, set for November in Baku, Azerbaijan, will be a crucial platform for action. In a pre-COP interview, Dr. Mark Bynoe, CCCCC's Assistant Executive Director, emphasized the urgent need for increased climate financing for Small Island Developing States (SIDS). As part of the Alliance of Small Island Developing States (AOSIS) bloc, CARICOM nations collaborate closely, with CCCCC facilitating discussions on climate priorities. Through AOSIS, the Caribbean's climate mandate, often aligned with other SIDS, is presented at COP and wider climate negotiations. #RoadToCOP29 #COP29 #caribbeanclimate #caricomclimate

  • The three-day forum under the Small Island Developing States Capacity and Resilience (SIDAR) Programme kicked off on Wednesday 25th September 2024 in Kingston, Jamaica at the ROK Hotel Kingston. Fourteen project developers from eight CARICOM member states gathered for this two-part event, which ran from September 25th to 27th. The forum featured the inaugural in-person Community of Partners (CoP) session and the second South-South Knowledge Exchange under the SIDAR Programme. The primary goal of these sessions is to increase community partnership, share experiences, take stock of concept notes, and build awareness of other SIDAR activities. Days 1 and 2 of the event focused on the Community of Partners sessions. These sessions introduced participants to climate finance in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and the broader SIDAR initiative. The agenda included country presentations from climate project developers, who received capacity-building support to align their concept notes and funding proposals with the requirements of multilateral funds.
