Snorlax Stall
Snorlax and Counter Catcher Types used Major cards Snorlax Era 2023-2024

Snorlax Stall was a Pokémon Trading Card Game deck archetype played in the 2023-2024 season. The deck's strategy revolved around using Snorlax's Block Ability to trap Pokémon in the Active Spot and deck out the opponent, causing them to lose. This archetype became more popular due to the newly reprinted Counter Catcher to more reliably trap the opponent's Pokémon, and it's for two reasons: taking Prize cards is not a goal for this deck, and the restriction that only 1 Supporter card can be played during a turn.

Due to stricter time controls in Japanese tournaments that force double loss if the game doesn't end within 25 minutes, this archetype is not as popular in East Asia as it is in other regions.

Rotom V

Main cards:

• Snorlax - The centerpiece of the deck, which has the Block Ability, preventing the opponent's Pokémon from retreating as long as it's in the Active Spot.
• Counter Catcher - After the opponent has taken at least 1 Prize card, this card is always able to be used, making it parallel to Gust of Wind.

Other key cards:

• Rotom V - This draw engine can be used throughout the whole game. This Pokémon's Instant Charge Ability draws 3 cards, but ends the turn.
• Mimikyu - This Pokémon takes no damage from the opposing Pokémon V or Pokémon ex due to the Safeguard Ability.
• Spiritomb - Blocks all Abilities on Basic Pokémon V.
• Peonia - This card exchanges up to 3 Prize cards with the same number of cards from the player's hand, which can unlock several required cards, as the player doesn't take any Prize cards during the entire game.
• Forest Seal Stone - Due to this card, once per game, the player can search their deck for any card that may be needed at the moment.
• Temple of Sinnoh - Disables effects of Special Energy cards, also causes them to only provide 1 Energy.

Possible tech cards

The following cards are often used in Snorlax Stall decks in place of certain cards included in the above lists.

• Crabominable V - This card has the Trigger Avalanche attack that discards the top 2 cards of the opponent's deck, and is fueled by the sole Water Energy card in the deck. Used for extra pressure, leading to deckout more easily.
• Pidgeot V - This card has the Vanishing Wings Ability, thanks to which Pidgeot V can shuffle itself into the deck from the Bench. This is useful to avoid own deckouts. It is also another Pokémon that takes advantage of Forest Seal Stone.
