Twineedle (Japanese: ダブルニードル Double Needle) is a damage-dealing Bug-type multistrike move introduced in Generation I. Prior to Generation V, it was the signature move of Beedrill.
Effect
Generation I
Twineedle inflicts damage, hitting the target twice per use. The second strike has a 20% chance of poisoning the target, unless the target is Poison-type. Although only the first strike can be a critical hit, the second one will deal the same amount of damage.
Twineedle will end immediately if the first strike breaks a substitute. Bide and Counter will only acknowledge the second strike of this move.
Generation II
Each strike now does damage independently, and either of them can be a critical hit.
Twineedle can poison Steel-type Pokémon.
Twineedle will now hit again if the first strike breaks a substitute. If the first strike breaks a substitute, the second strike can poison the target.
If the user is holding a King's Rock, the final strike has a chance to cause the target to flinch.
Generation III
Twineedle can no longer poison Steel-type Pokémon.
Twineedle is no longer affected by King's Rock.
Generation IV
Both of Twineedle's strikes now have an independent 20% chance of poisoning the target (producing a 36% chance of poisoning the target overall).
Generation V to VII
If a Focus Sash activates before the last strike is dealt, the following strike will cause the defending Pokémon to faint. A Focus Band can still activate repeatedly to prevent fainting, but each chance is independent. Sturdy will activate with each hit if the defending Pokémon has a maximum HP of 1.
If the target has Weak Armor or Stamina, each strike will activate it.
Twineedle is now affected by King's Rock. If the user is holding a King's Rock or Razor Fang, each consecutive hit has an equal chance to cause the target to flinch.
Generation VIII onwards
Twineedle cannot be selected in a battle.

Twineedle inflicts damage, hitting the target 2 times per use. Each hit has a separate accuracy check, though the move will continue even when a hit fails. Twineedle may also leave the enemy poisoned. Prior to Super Mystery Dungeon, if a targeted Pokémon faints in middle of the attack, the remaining projectile will be able to hit a new target. The move's critical hit rate is reduced (2% in the Rescue Team, Explorers and Adventure Squad series).

Trivia
- In Generation II only, Twineedle is the only move that can poison a Steel-type Pokémon. This is because Steel-type Pokémon are only coded to be immune to Poison-type moves.
