Once during each player's turn, that player may search their deck for a Stage 1 Pokémon that evolves from 1 of their Basic Pokémon and put it onto that Pokémon to evolve it. If that Pokémon was evolved in this way, that player may search their deck for a Stage 2 Pokémon that evolves from that Pokémon and put it onto that Pokémon to evolve it. Then, that player shuffles their deck. (Players can't evolve a Basic Pokémon during their first turn or a Basic Pokémon that was put into play this turn.)

Rulings
- Players may use Grand Tree to evolve a Basic Pokémon into a Stage 1 Pokémon that has no Stage 2 Pokémon Evolution.[1][2] They may not use Grand Tree if none of their Pokémon in play are capable of evolving.[1]
- For Pokémon with Abilities that allow it to be evolved on the first turn or on the turn it is played (eg. Scatterbug with Adaptive Evolution or Eevee with Boosted Evolution), Grand Tree may not be used to evolve them on the first turn or on the turn those Pokémon are played.[2]
- Using Grand Tree to evolve a Pokémon counts as evolving it for the turn, thus the Pokémon can't evolve further on the same turn, as each Pokémon can only evolve once during a player's turn. For instance, a player using Grand Tree on a Charmander to evolve it into a Charmeleon may not then evolve it into a Charizard ex from hand, as that Charmeleon is considered to have already evolved for that turn.[3] As of October 7, 2024, an error is currently present in Pokémon Trading Card Game Live whereby a Pokémon that was evolved with Grand Tree can still evolve further by playing an Evolution Pokémon card from the hand.
