Eternamax
Eternamax (Japanese: ムゲンダイマックス Mugendaimax) is an unobtainable kind of form change introduced in Generation VIII.
In the core series games
Unlike Dynamax or Gigantamax, the transformation is unobtainable to the player, but appears when Eternabeam is used. The only known Pokémon to have this transformation is Eternatus. This transformation occurs when a Pokémon absorbs massive amounts of energy at once.
History
This transformation first occurs after the player defeats Eternatus for the first time, when Eternatus changes into the Eternamax form after absorbing all the energy in Galar. Eternamax Eternatus proceeds to absorb more energy while preventing the player's and Hop's Pokémon from attacking. The player and Hop then call upon Zacian and Zamazenta, negating this power. A special Max Raid Battle ensues where the player captures Eternatus, ending its Eternamax transformation.
Effect
While Eternamax cannot be obtained by the player, while facing off against it, Eternamax Eternatus functions similar to a Dynamax Pokémon in a Max Raid Battle. It can negate the effect of the player's Pokémon's Abilities and stat changes, cure itself of non-volatile status conditions, and use Max Moves in battle. After defeating it, the player will always catch it.
However, it cannot create a protective barrier like Rank 3 and above Max Raid Battle opponents can. Additionally, it does not take increased damage from Behemoth Blade, Behemoth Bash, or Dynamax Cannon.

In the spin-off games
Pokémon Masters EX
Leon, while wearing his sygna suit, is the only Trainer to use Eternamax in Pokémon Masters EX, where it is treated as a variation of Dynamax. Dynamax Cannon is replaced by Eternabeam when Eternatus Eternamaxes, treating the latter move as Eternatus's max move, even though it isn't one in the core series games.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series
Eternamax Eternatus appeared in Sword and Shield... The Legends Awaken! when the Gigantic Pokémon entered this form after Leon's failed attempt at catching it. Ash and Goh proceeded to battle it with their Pokémon, along with Zacian and Zamazenta. With the help of the two Legendary Pokémon, Eternatus was defeated, allowing Goh to catch it.
Pokémon Evolutions
Eternatus's Eternamax form appeared in a flashback in The Champion, where Victor and Hop battled against it during the Darkest Day. After it was defeated, it was caught caught by Victor.

Sword & Shield arc
Eternatus entered its Eternamax form in GRRR!! The Irrepairable Gears while battling against the Galar Gym Leaders. After they had been defeated, Zacian and Zamazenta appeared and took their place. When the two of them attacked Eternatus together, all three Pokémon vanished in a bright flash of light.
Eternamax Eternatus reappeared in PASS42. Once Zacian and Zamazenta had succeeded in defeating it, Eternatus reverted to its regular form, which, at Casey's request, was allowed to remain free so that humans could hopefully learn to coexist with it.
Pokémon Journeys
Eternatus entered its Eternamax form in Sword and Shield... The Legends Awaken! (Part 2) after Leon failed to catch the Gigantic Pokémon. Ash and Goh proceeded to battle it with their Pokémon, along with Zacian and Zamazenta. With the help of the two Legendary Pokémon, Eternatus was defeated, allowing Goh to catch it and end the Darkest Day.

In the Trading Card Game, Eternamax Eternatus was printed on the card Eternatus VMAX. It is a Pokémon VMAX card, with a label designating it as "Eternamax". As a Pokémon VMAX, it evolves from Eternatus V.

Trivia
- Unlike Gigantamax forms, Eternamax Eternatus has its exact size listed in the Pokédex without being followed by a plus, though its weight is listed as ????.? lbs, just like all Gigantamax forms.
- A Shiny Eternamax Eternatus cannot be registered legitimately in the Pokédex in Pokémon Sword and Shield, as the only way to see one is in the animation for a Shiny Eternatus using Eternabeam, which is not considered a true form change. However, it can be registered in Pokémon HOME by registering a Shiny Eternatus, as both forms will be automatically registered upon depositing an Eternatus into HOME.
