Daniel Arsham × Pokémon
Daniel Arsham × Pokémon is a collaboration between American contemporary artist Daniel Arsham and The Pokémon Company. It consists of art exhibits held in Japan, the United States, and China, as well as various lines of merchandise inspired by the artworks.
Concept
The fictional archaeology is really an idea of taking all of the objects from our present day and imagining as if we were an archeologist in the future and looking at these objects from our everyday life or our everyday experience. I think there’s something kind of prolific and impactful about trying to step outside of our own time frame. It gives us a perspective of our own experiences and lives. Through these works, I hope to be able to shift people's understanding about time in general.

Arsham’s sculptural works are made of materials such as pyrite, selenite, volcanic ash, glass, obsidian, growler rocks, crystal, and bronze[1]. Through his work, viewers are invited to imagine the unearthing of Pokémon a thousand years from now and experience the passage of time. On the surface, Daniel Arsham’s Pokémon sculptures may look weathered, but closer examination of the excavated future of Pokémon exposes a crystallized brilliance.[2]

Relics of Kanto Through Time
Relics of Kanto Through Time was an exhibit held in NANZUKA from June 9, 2020 to July 4, 2020, as well as NANZUKA 2G and PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO from August 1, 2020 to August 16, 2020.
PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO
The exhibit was curated by NANZUKA and made in cooperation with The Pokémon Company and HYPEBEAST. An online 3D exhibition is also available at the museum's website. Admission to the exhibits for adults was 700 yen.
A 2-meter bronze statue of Pikachu was installed on the 1st floor of Shibuya PARCO as part of a public art exhibit.
The "Crystalized Pokémon" sticker was given away to those who booked tickets to the exhibit in advance.

Time Dilation
Time Dilation was an exhibit held in Perrotin Gallery, New York from January 16, 2021 to February 20, 2021. It featured Arsham's Pokémon sculptures along with his other works.
A Ripple in Time
A Ripple in Time consisted of five exhibits held in separate venues throughout Tokyo. It was held in NANZUKA's three gallery spaces, the 66 Plaza in Roppongi Hills, and the indoor stone garden in the Sogetsu Plaza. Admission to the exhibits was free.

Artifacts of Indigo Plateau
Artifacts of Indigo Plateau (Chinese: 石英高原的遗迹) was a series of travelling exhibits held in three cities in China from 2022 to 2024.
Shanghai
The exhibit was held at the chi K11 art museum in Shanghai from December 31, 2022 to May 7, 2023. Aside from the works displayed at the art museum, multiple giant sculptures were also placed at the outdoor plaza on the ground floor of K11 Shanghai.[3]
Guangzhou
The exhibit was held at the L3 ART CONNEXION and L4 chi K11 art space at the K11 Art Mall in Guangzhou from December 1, 2023 to May 20, 2024. It was divided into four themes: A Ripple in Time (时间的涟漪), Future Relic (未来遗迹), Let's Go, Trainers (出发吧训练家们), and Pokémon Future Present (宝可梦未来的当下).
Wuhan
The exhibit was held at the chi K11 art space at the K11 Art Mall in Wuhan from May 31, 2024 to December 1, 2024. It was divided into four themes: Leaf Forest (叶之森林), Rock Cavern (岩之石窟), Dreamy Zen Garden (梦中枯山水), and Future Relic (未来遗迹).

Animated short

"A Ripple in Time" by Pokémon × Daniel Arsham is an animated short produced as part of the collaboration. The short was screened as part of the exhibition project A Ripple in Time held in Tokyo and the exhibition Artifacts of Indigo Plateau held in Shanghai.
Catalog
- Main article: Arsham's Pokédex
Arsham's Pokédex is the official catalog of the A Ripple in Time exhibit. It covers around 24 sculptural works produced by Daniel Arsham, as well as 91 drawings and paintings by the artist. It also includes an interview with anime director Kunihiko Yuyama in both Japanese and English.
The catalog is published by Bijutsu Shuppan-Sha. It is available in various bookstores and online bookstores throughout Japan, as well as in the NANZUKA UNDERGROUND store and Pokémon Center Online for ¥3,850.

Archive Editions
Eroded Pikachu (被侵蚀的皮卡丘) was the first installment that was released exclusively in China on April 24, 2020 via Arsham's Archived Editions WeChat Mini-Program[4]. A limited edition of 500 pieces were made available at the price of RMB14,200 each.
Crystalized Charmander (pink) was later released on Archived Editions on October 17, 2021 with a limited edition of 500 pieces. All items sold on Arsham Editions aside from Crystalized Charmander and Blue Crystalized Pikachu were also available on Archived Editions.
