Caterpillar Inc. seeks Lead Data Scientist at its facility located at 501 SW Jefferson Ave, Peoria, IL 61630.
Will be responsible for building tools, dashboards and processes to enable (E2E) telemetry data quality monitoring, finding source of quality issues and work with process partners to resolve the problems at source. Will primarily focus on the data quality evaluation of a very large set of diverse data from IoT connected assets, our integrated network of dealers and enterprise data. Will analyze output of data quality rules and evaluation of their impact, as well as root cause analysis of data quality problems. Will also use analytics and visualization methods to solve problems for Caterpillar internal customers. Will use quantitative techniques to solve problems; using a depth of knowledge in quantitative analytic methods, data management, and or associated digital technologies suitable to handle all but the most complex issues. Will design, develop, and maintain Telemetry data quality dashboards and reports. Will provide analytics support to Connectivity Division Projects; will consolidate output of data quality problems into a workable CPI project. Will refine solutions to better fit complex situations, making timely decisions, and communicating effectively with all project stakeholders. May work from remote home office within commutable distance from Caterpillar Inc.'s Peoria IL office (501 SW Jefferson Ave, Peoria, IL 61630).
REQS: This position requires a master's degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Aerospace Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Management Science, Computer Science or a closely related field, plus 3 years of pre- or post- masters experience designing and implementing data processing and machine learning frameworks. The position also requires 3 years of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) in the following: (1) Performing data processing and working on complex analytics initiatives; (2) Creating data extracts; (3) Working with Python, NoSQL and relational databases such as Snowflake; and (4) MySQL and experience with dashboard / reporting data using BI software such as Tableau and MS Power BI.
