Funkcija
[uredi | uredi izvor]Protein kodiran ovim genom je član porodice receptor faktora rasta fibroblasta (FGFR), gdje je sekvenca aminokiselina visoko konzervirana između članova i tokom evolucije. Članovi porodice FGFR razlikuju se međusobno po afinitetima liganda i tkivnoj distribuciji. Reprezentativni protein pune dužine sastojao bi se od vanćelijskog regiona, sastavljenog od tri domena slična imunoglobulinu, jednog hidrofobnog segmenta koji pokriva membranu i domena citoplazmatske tirozin-kinaze. Vanćelijski dio proteina stupa u interakciju s faktorima rasta fibroblasta, pokrećući kaskadu nizvodnih signala, na kraju utičući na mitogenezu i diferencijaciju. Značajna razlika između ovog genskog proizvoda i ostalih članova porodice je nedostatak domena citoplazmatske tirozin-kinaze. Rezultat je transmembranski receptor koji može stupiti u interakciju s drugim članovima porodice i potencijalno inhibirati signalizaciju. Za ovaj gen pronađene su višestruke alternativno prerađene varijante transkripta koje kodiraju istu izoformu.[5]
