The finalists for the 14th NATO Innovation Challenge have been announced, and Lithuania is making waves! 🌍 Five Lithuanian companies are among the final 11, showcasing their potential in remote mine detection and neutralisation technologies. 🌍As wind energy grows, the waste from old turbine blades becomes a big problem. Lithuania has become the 40th signatory of #ArtemisAccords on May 15th. As FM Gabrielius Landsbergis noted, "With joint efforts, we took one more step in strengthening the partnership with the United States.“ Aušrinė Armonaitė, the Lithuanian Minister of the Economy and Innovation, has officially signed the U.S. State Department-initiated Artemis Accords that establish practical principles for the safe and sustainable exploration of space. The Accords were signed during the Vilnius Space Days 2024, with Kara McDonald, the U.S. Ambassador in Lithuania, in attendance. The Accords commit Lithuania to pursue any planned space missions, such as space mining and the use of space-derived resources, including all types of mining on the Moon, Mars, comets or asteroids, in compliance with the Outer Space Treaty and supporting safe and sustainable operations in space. 🌞 Lithuania's Largest Solar Park Opens!🌍💡 On May 2nd, the Molėtai region celebrated the inauguration of Lithuania's largest solar park. Covering 150 hectares and equipped with over 150,000 solar modules, this park has a massive capacity of 100 MW—a significant leap towards Lithuania's energy independence by 2050. This project not only boosts national electricity production through renewable sources but also aims to sustainably power more homes.
