  • 🌍🏠 Last week we had the pleasure of coming together for the second steering committee of the RISE project.                                                                                                                        RISE, “Reinforcing Integration through Sponsorship Enhancement”, aims to help beneficiaries of international protection find a warm home by supporting and expanding community sponsorship (CS) initiatives in Belgium, Italy and Lithuania. In CS programs, committed citizens volunteer to help refugees in the often difficult search for a safe and decent home.   🤝 Together with IOM Lithuania and OIM Mediterraneo (Italy), we are coordinating the project activities, fostering international exchange of expertise and good practices. 🤝 In collaboration with our partners Odisee University of Applied Sciences and Università degli studi Roma TRE, field research will be conducted to identify the experiences and needs of existing CS initiatives. Based on the lessons learned, a toolkit will be developed with practical guidance and support for solidarity initiatives. 🤝 With our partner Refugees Reception Centre, community sponsorship will be launched in Lithuania.    As such we align ourselves with one goal: helping refugees feel at home, facilitating their local integration and fostering welcoming societies. 🙌   Read more about the project on our newly launched webpage 👉 https://bit.ly/4epX0GZ   ℹ The RISE project is funded by the European Union.

Day 2 of the Displaced Talent for Europe (DT4E) Conference has wrapped up with inspiring discussions and actionable insights! 🌍      Today’s conversations highlighted innovative solutions and key challenges for labour pathways for displaced talent across Europe. Here are some key takeaways:     ✨ Existing labour migration pathways should be further expanded, streamlined and made more accessible for displaced talent, while ensuring protection safeguards, prevention of exploitation, and stronger coordination between European and national stakeholders.     💡 Innovative finance models, like the Refugee Impact Bond and income-share mechanisms, are emerging and should be leveraged to support sustainable labour mobility, going beyond traditional financing methods.     🛠️ Bridging the gap between talent and employers requires, amongst other things, improved online tools for skills assessment and training pre- and post-hiring.      🎓 Streamlined processes for recognition of skills and training are critical to addressing healthcare labour mobility of displaced talent and beyond.      A big thank you to everyone who contributed to today’s discussions, and to Gianluca Rocco from the IOM Global Office Brussels and Olivier Sterck from Oxford University for their insightful closing remarks.      Together, we’re shaping a brighter future for displaced talent in Europe! 💼🌍    Luca Volonté, Rob De Lobel, Rabia Ceylan, Irene de Lorenzo-Cáceres Cantero, Mauro Gagliardi, Jamila E., Fatima Aydin, David Manicom, Claudia Barbarano, Lukas Troetzer, Audrey Hickcox, Claire Kumar, Manuela Verduci, Hilde Van Eeckhout, Raphaelle THIRION, Tegwyn Stephenson, Khaled Akar, Bo Coenen, Joana Marques, Teresa De Gasperis, Delphine Comijn, Anthony Catlow, and Sara Chabayta.
