🎉 Congratulations to Dr. Valérie Mattelin, our second PhD graduate this week!🎉 Yesterday, Valérie Mattelin successfully defended the final part of her PhD quest. She expertly and clearly educated us all on biological plastic degradation in multiple water types and all the intricate challenges that come with studying this topic. 🦠💧 During her PhD, she brilliantly managed the powerful collaboration of industry (B4Plastics) and academia (Ghent University), and was also deeply involved in organizing our team activities, from quizzes to weekend getaways, bringing fun and unity to our team. 🎉 Congratulations to Dr. Quinten Mariën, our newly graduated PhD! 🎓   That's a wrap on Quinten's journey to be an expert in a powerful tiny bug - Clostidrium luticellari. Initially describing it as a "jack of all trades and master of none," Quinten's dedication and interdisciplinary expertise in microbiology, reactor engineering, and modeling have led his mentor to rebrand him as a "jack of all trades and master of all." We definitely agree!   We are incredibly proud of Quinten's achievements and wish him continued success as he continues his journey with us as Post-doc.

🎉 After 47 incredible years, we have said goodbye to our beloved offices at Campus Coupure. As we cleaned each room, we rediscovered the spaces that have united us for so long and reflected on our group's rich history, founded by Prof. Em. Willy Verstraete. While it’s bittersweet to leave, endings also bring exciting new beginnings and opportunities. 🌟 We are thrilled to start this new chapter and create fresh memories in our new home, CAPTURE.
