📣 Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA) and future risk for CVA A TIA, often referred to as a ‘mini-stroke’, is a serious medical condition that requires immediate attention. It’s caused by a brief blockage of blood flow to the brain. Although the symptoms are temporary and usually resolve within 24 hours, it’s a significant warning sign of a potential stroke. This recent study was the first to report long-term incidence of ischemic stroke in patients with TIA in a nationwide real-world cohort. Multiple Sclerosis - Increased Mortality Risk Meta Analysis from 2021 - 15 studies were included covering a period 1949–2013 🔔 Increased Mortality SMR 2.6 ▶ Women SMR was 2.57 ▶ Men SMR was 2.47 📌SMR for Respiratory Illness and Infection was 4.7 📌 SMR for Accident and Suicide was 1.81 📌 SMR for CVD was 1.74 Interventions must be made to improve the respiratory function and adequate management of respiratory co-morbidities. Suicidal ideation must be addressed, and patients should be screened for suicidal ideation by clinicians. CVD profile must be addressed with primary prevention. #medicalunderwriting #multiplesclerosis

Adoption of Standard Treatment Guidelines (STG’s) / workflows (STW’s) is essential for consistency of treatment, rational investigations and curtail over prescription; keeping patient safety and wellbeing at the forefront. With NHA’s involvement, it should soon be adopted for Ayushman Bharat and further transcended to private health insurance. These should and must form basis for claims assessment from payer perspective. STG’s alongside regulated tariffs shall go a long way in ensuring affordable, accessible and efficient healthcare systems.
