Founded in 2014 as a spin-off of the French Blood Bank (EFS), PDC*line Pharma is a Belgian-French clinical-stage biotech company that develops an innovative class of active immunotherapies for cancers, based on a GMP-grade allogeneic therapeutic cell line of Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells (PDC*line). PDC*line is much more potent than conventional dendritic cell-based vaccines in priming and boosting antitumor antigen-specific cytotoxic T-cells, including the T-cells specific for neoantigens, and is synergistic with checkpoint inhibitors. The technology can potentially be applied to any type of cancer. Following a first-in-human phase I feasibility study in melanoma, PDC*line Pharma focuses on the development of PDC*lung01, a candidate for Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) currently in phase I/II trials, and PDC*neo with neoantigens in preclinical development. The company has a staff of 42, with an experienced management team. It has raised close to €61M in equity and non-dilutive funding. In March 2019, PDC*line Pharma granted an exclusive license to the LG Chem Life Sciences company in South Korea and an exclusive option in other Asian countries, for the development and commercialization of the PDC*lung01 cancer vaccine for lung cancer. The total deal is worth €108M, plus tiered royalties on net sales in Asia. 🚀 The challenging journey of Digital Therapeutics. Despite the slow adoption and skepticism of regulators, DTx could enhance patients’ journey and strengthen clinical outcomes 🚀 At the recent digital therapeutics (DTx) France event, Murray Aitken, Executive Director of IQVIA Institute, shed light on the challenges facing DTx in the U.S. Despite its reputation as a digital health haven, the U.S. market remains fragmented and slow to grow compared to countries like Germany. Key Takeaways: 🧩 Fragmented Market -Multiple reimbursement pathways and cautious post-pandemic investments have slowed U.S. growth. -Companies like Pear Therapeutics have struggled, while others like Biofourmis have downsized despite significant funding. 🔬 Potential in Clinical Trials -Digital biomarkers in clinical trials can enhance the credibility of DTx applications. -This integration could help overcome the skepticism of regulators and clinicians. 💸 Diverse Reimbursement Models -The U.S. offers several reimbursement pathways: direct-to-consumer, employer negotiations, and insurance collaborations. -Programs like Medicare and integrated health systems, such as Kaiser Permanente, are adopting DTx solutions. For example, Kaiser Permanente has over 150,000 patients in remote monitoring programs for diabetes and hypertension. 🌟🚧 Success Stories and Challenges -In France, companies like Luna and Poppins are successfully navigating mixed reimbursement models. -Lucine’s Endocare, although sold, was a scientific success, showing the potential even amidst commercial challenges. 📈 Growing Acceptance -Digital tools and biomarkers are gaining traction in clinical trials, improving acceptance among clinicians and regulators. -Progress is notable in areas like oncology, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, autism, and depression. 👉 We are very proud to announce the publication of an article on the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic limitations of L-DOPA in the management of Parkinson's disease in the Journal of Parkinson's Disease 👉More information on : https://lnkd.in/eYcBYFvR 👉After selecting the 10 most relevant articles in the literature, it is shown that pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic problems include: restricted digestive and cerebral passage, unnecessary peripheral distribution, short half-life, age- and Parkinson's disease-induced decline in central aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase, poor distribution in many cells and pulsatile stimulation of dopaminergic receptors. Current L-DOPA based treatments beyond oral do not provide a satisfactory response to these limitations. 🎯 A-dopamine, administered intracerebroventricularly, improves the autonomy of patients affected by Parkinson's disease by reducing both the symptoms associated with a lack of dopamine, such as tremors, slowness, stiffness, pain and difficulties in walking and communicating, and the abnormal symptoms induced by L-dopa-based treatment, characterized by involuntary movements and agitation, through the tapering down of the oral optimized background regimen.
