This extensive study is one of the largest clinical investigations into ocular blood flow among glaucoma patients, including those with normal-tension glaucoma (NTG). Jan's work underscores that while traditionally the main focus for treating glaucoma has been on lowering intraocular pressure (IOP), vascular conditions like hypertension also play a significant role in glaucoma progression. He explores how changes in vascular structure, blood pressure, and microvascular endothelial function can serve as key indicators for diagnosing and treating glaucoma.
