🚰 The European Union and UNDP in Ukraine continue to support the communities facing ongoing water shortages.
10 modern water trucks and mobile water purification stations will ensure access to potable water for over 95,000 residents across eight communities in the Kherson and Dnipro regions.
The water crisis in the south of Ukraine, caused by the Kakhovka dam destruction in June 2023, has been exacerbated by targeted Russian attacks on infrastructure, disrupting electricity and halting the operation of pumping stations. The establishment of a centralized supply of water remains challenging, despite it being a necessity.
Each mobile filtration station, powered by solar panels, can purify over 5,000 liters of water per hour, including seawater, while 10-cubic-meter water trucks will distribute the purified water to remote settlements ensuring access to safe drinking water to more residents.
This marks the second handover of such equipment aimed at alleviating the water crisis in southern Ukraine. In April 2024, 15 water trucks and 30 mobile purification stations were deployed to 14 communities in the Dnipro region, proving to be an effective solution.
