  • 📢 Dear LinkedIn Network 📢, We are thrilled to announce the release of the new TIC4.0 publication "Semantics, Dataset, Data Model and Definitions 2024.011". The publication TIC4.0 2024.011 covers the following topics:   ✔ EDI to TIC4.0: Since its inception, the EDIFACT standard has been used by ports and other logistics providers. The goal is to translate EDIFACT data into the TIC4.0 data standard/model, providing definitions, data formats, models, and examples for easy implementation, facilitating the translation and integration of EDI data into TIC messages or data lakes. ✔ “Health” ensuring “Reliability”: This comprehensive overview emphasises the critical importance of measuring and monitoring equipment health in terminal operations, citing its impacts on efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The integration of TIC4.0 and the CHE health data model ensures monitoring and anticipation of equipment condition. ✔ “Health” definitions: “Repairing”, “Diagnosing” and “Inspecting” status definitions have been created for this release, the goal being to define the maintenance tasks of the same name. ✔ KPI definitions: KPIs “Carrier Visit Turnaround Time”, “Average Carriervisit Turnaround Time”, “Vessel Turnaround Time”, “Truck Turnaround Time”, “Productivity”, “Productivity Gross”, “Productivity Net”, “Carrier Productivity Cargo Operations” and “Carrier Productivity Carrier Ready to Work” have been defined during this publication period, offering a comprehensive overview on these operational performance indicators. ✔ Reefer definitions: This Release defines the subject “Air”, with the aim of using it as a generic subject for other TIC4.0 areas. Furthermore, a revision of definitions for “Unplugged”, “Plugged”, “Unpowered” and “PowerSource” are provided including the characteristics of the cargo reefer. The publication is now available on the TIC4.0 website (Standards Section) and on the TIC4.0 public Confluence Space : https://lnkd.in/dReuvZVe https://lnkd.in/dymCUuD4 We want to thank all Task-Forces, Task-Force Leaders, Reviewers, the TIC4.0 Operations Council and all the TIC4.0 community for their active involvement and commitment, which make it possible a continuous flow of technical documents publicly available for the port terminal sector and the cargo handling industry! #standards #innovation #ports #logistics #WeTalkTIC

  • The session #Benchmarking #Digital & #Operational #Standards has been a great sucess today at #TOCEurope! A very insightful session where the C-Level panellists have provided a comprehensive overview of the digitalisation status, opportunities and existing barriers that the port industry is facing. A summary of the main highlights shared by the participants is provided: From Maksim Mihic: ✔ Decarbonisation and digitalisation are hot topics for the industry, where standards and generative AI are playing a significant role. ✔ Collaboration is the way to reach the same level of digitalisation as other industries. We as an industry have the challenge of creating an attractive sector for young work-force and digitalisation is one of the main enablers. From Jack Craig: ✔ The sector and the market is demanding a different operational model. There is a relevant focus on improving planning with stakeholders and partners, which can only be achieved through collaboration in digitalisation. ✔ Digitalisation enables much more real time information exchange with the BCO community. This also helps to understand what type of information BCOs need and demand. From Robert Yuksel Yildirim: ✔ Digitalisation can be approached in different ways depending on each operator's profile. For Yilport, as an independent port operator, the focus is on adding value to the final customer. ✔ Digitalisation also costs money and port terminals need to invest to keep customer satisfaction but also employees satisfaction, facilitating and modernising the available systems and tools. From Boris Wenzel: ✔ What characterises our industry is the large variety of data involved, generated by so many sources, and the different understating of data depending on the stakeholder. The port industry has achieved remarkable standardisation levels with physical assets like the container, but when it comes to data, there is no harmonisation. TIC4.0 was founded to develop a common data language that enables port terminal actors to interoperate. ✔ The problem is not to create standards, the real challenge is the adoption of such standards on a wide bases by the industry. In this sense, TIC4.0 plays a similar role than the English language enables communication among millions of people. From Harry Nguyen: ✔ Years ago we talked about BI, and now the industry is talking about the possibilities of Generative AI, it is a change of paradigm. The challenge for today's industry is how to use the huge amount of data available at port facilities. From David Moosbrugger: ✔ In our business, lacking digitalisation means being reactive instead of proactive at all levels. In 2024 the discussion about stakeholder collaboration does not make sense, the industry must collaborate as the way forward. The session has been moderated by David Parlongue from Boston Consulting Group (BCG). TOC WorldwideSean Deane Mateo Wiegold Boris Wenzel Norbert K.
