📢 We welcome the European Commission’s Action plan for Grids, placing grids at the forefront of the agenda and recognising their critical role in European society. With grids being the crucial enablers of everyday life, updating, modernising and reinforcing the EU’s grid infrastructure must become a priority. While the Action Plan is a key step forward and is an important political recognition of grids, as technology providers, we see that it does not cover all of the needs of the grid technology industry. T&D Europe’s President, Jochen Kreusel, and Secretary General, Diederik Peereboom, are in Copenhagen for the European Energy Infrastructure Forum. Over two days, T&D Europe and other electricity stakeholders review progress in developing, reinforcing, digitalising, greening and upgrading Europe’s electricity networks and making them more flexible and resilient. Yesterday T&D Europe’s President Jochen Kreusel addressed the 10th European Energy Infrastructure Forum in Copenhagen. He joined Europacable secretary general, ENTSO-E 's Damian Cortinas, EU DSO Entity's Peter Vermaat and ACER's Christian Zinglersen on stage to discuss the critical role of supply chains. His key messages: Technology providers are committed to continue supporting grid operators in developing, strengthening and digitalising Europe's electricity networks. Over the past 18 months just our 10 corporate members made #investment announcements of more than €12 billion. We need to make sure that Europe is an attractive region to invest in Europe's grid technology sector, which is a vital European and national interest. Based on clear commitments from regulators and network operators together with a stable regulatory framework the industry will be able to make the business case with a competitive return on equity to add capacity, to organise its supply chain and to recruit and develop the necessary #skills. We need to make the most of the existing capacities. Here standards as well as the work of the High Level Forum on European #Standardisation play an important role. #energyIF #grids #electricity

⚡ How do you make the energy transition a reality? This is an important question. Strategic objectives and ambition are very important, but not enough. 🌍 To move us to a climate-neutral Europe, many different actors need to work together, often in new ways. Everyone who has ever tried to work together with a diverse group of individuals will recognise the difficulties this can create and the time and effort it takes to overcome them. But cooperation is the key to success. A big thank you to ETIP PV - The European Technology & Innovation Platform for Photovoltaics for inviting Jochen Kreusel, President of T&D Europe, to their annual conference to share the perspective of grid technology providers. Engaging with fellow experts, the discussions showed that we have reached an new phase of the energy transition in which all stakeholders have to collaborate closely in order to define and built a power system based on distributed renewable generation, flexible demand and power electronics.
