Sonaca is adding a new feather to his cap! The ballet of trucks and shovels has just started at our Gosselies site. Following the award of the new contract for the A321 inboard flap, Airbus' rising platform, Sonaca, in partnership with WANTY and BSolutions, has begun construction of the future extension of our Large Sheet Metal plant. This will house a mechanical machining equipment for the inboard flap skins. This strategic investment will enable us to acquire new skills and develop our technological headquarter. 5 years later, Sonaca closes the curtain on HLFC Win. If you had to remember few things from this project? ✔ One JEC Composites Innovation award in 2023 ✔ Numerous technologies to be used for next developments : Krueger flap, induction de-icing system,... ✔ And our partners congratulations for the great work This project was achieved with the partnership of German Aerospace Center (DLR) Aernnova Aerospace ONERA - The French Aerospace Lab and Airbus as coordinator. Cleansky2 initiative aims to develop new technologies for a clean, innovative and competitive aviation system. As a reminder, HLFC (Hybrid Laminar Flow Control) technology is designed to maintain the smoothest possible flow along the wing. It offers the potential for significant reductions in specific fuel consumption. The teams developed a ground demonstrator to check the feasibility and integration of all associated HLFC systems.    #aerospace #innovation #engineering #industry

Loading for 2025’s ambitions   A new chapter starts for Sonaca Transilvania! To support our ambitions and new contracts, Sonaca Transilvania has just started the construction of a new plant. This 14,000m² building will double the size of the current facilities and will be available from the beginning of 2025. It will house the stretching and bonding of large sheet metal parts capabilities.    Sonaca Belgian and Romanian teams have joined their strengths for the implementation of this ambitious project and for supporting the local teams’ development on new process. A step forward to 40% emissions reduction in 2030* Sonaca and Neopark, ad hoc company by CENEO and Enerdeal, have signed a contract to more than double Sonaca’s annual production of renewable electricity. With 5 hectares of solar panels, corresponding to 900 domestic installations, Sonaca will cover up to 12% of electricity needs. Sonaca is bringing sustainability a priority in its agenda, with the goal to reach carbon neutrality by 2050 in line with ICAO targets. This means developing innovative products and processes, but also implementing greener production sites. Sonaca has a large experience in the design and manufacturing of structures for launchers, re-entry vehicles, crew vehicles, and space stations. Through its global footprint, Sonaca provides performant, fully integrated solutions to challenging problems.
