“Small businesses emphasised the need to finally make policy on the basis of the 99,8% companies in Europe, instead of for the 0,2% and called for focus on implementation in this new mandate. We welcome that Mrs von der Leyen in her Political Guidelines states that future legislation must be designed with small businesses in mind. However, we have seen #SME washing before, and therefore call to act according to this statement now” President Petri Salminen congratulated Ursula von der Leyen at her re-election for a second term at the helm of the European Commission. ➡ Read more: https://lnkd.in/eb8RyBjh

As the Council of the European Union will exchange views on the proposal to combat #latepayment, SMEunited recalls why clear rules on #paymentterms matter: - 30 days negotiable up to 60 days including a verification period and sectorial derogations up to a maximum threshold provide clarity and flexibility to economic operators - tailored enforcement authorities can play a significant preventive role. With a focus on recurring bad payment behaviour, they will be a game changer in the payment culture - ensuring payments pass down the supply chain from public authorities to sub-contractors supports #SMEs participation in public procurements ➡ Read more: https://lnkd.in/eH7rTDjZ

Towards less #administrative #burden and more #competitiveness of SMEs: “It is about what information you ask from SMEs and how you ask it”, stressed SMEunited Secretary General Veronique Willems at the European Commission’s #ComPAct Conference. Using comprehensible language, requiring accessible information, once-only-submission of data, providing drop-down menus and templates for #reporting are ways to simplify and reduce administrative burdens on #SMEs. We must ensure that businesses can concentrate on their core business rather than on reporting about their compliance. ➡ Read more about the event here: https://lnkd.in/esgy_cC3
