Congratulations to Peggy Devestel on her new position at MUAC ✈️   📅Today, we bid farewell to our Chief Operations Officer, Peggy Devestel, as she will start a new challenge as Director of the Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC) at EUROCONTROL from 1 October.   👏Peggy’s career, from air traffic controller to Chief Operations Officer, has been marked by dedication and excellence, within our company and in aviation.   ✔Now, she will take on the challenging task of overseeing MUAC, managing upper airspace over #Belgium, #Luxembourg, the #Netherlands, and Northwest #Germany.   We wish her every success in this new chapter!   Philippe Witpas, Senior Advisor Operations, will replace our COO ad interim. ✈️ Innovation in Approach at Brussels Airport with skeyes! 🌍 Starting October 1st, skeyes and Brussels Airport will launch demonstration flights with innovative steeper approach trajectories, as part of the “Highly Efficient Green Operations” project (HERON project).  ✅The aim is to assess whether landings with a steeper approach than usual can offer benefits in terms of reducing noise impact for surrounding communities, as well as lowering CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. 📅This initiative will be conducted in two phases, with participation from major airlines including DHL, Brussels Airlines, TUI, and Vueling Airlines. This project is part of the SESAR program, supported by EUROCONTROL and Airbus. 🌍 skeyes celebrates 7 years of impactful partnership with Out of Use nv! 🌱 Since 2017, we've been working together to reduce our #environmental footprint through responsible e-waste management. While this partnership spans seven years, the latest data from 2021 to 2023 showcases significant progress: out of a total of 30,925 kg of e-waste collected from skeyes, 30,175 kg were recycled and 750 kg were reused, helping to avoid 83,359 kg of CO₂ emissions. 💪 This week's handover event marks another step forward, as we continue #recycling items like monitors, printers, and server racks—ensuring non-reusable items are repurposed into secondary raw materials. skeyes is proud to be part of this journey, contributing to a more #sustainable future. Together, we’re committed to protecting and restoring Belgium's natural environment!     Today, our CEO Johan Decuyper proudly signed the protocol agreement together with Philippe Funcken (Natagora) and Bart Vangansbeke (Natuurpunt), solidifying our shared commitment to conservation.     🌳 In the Escaut plains, we’re working alongside Natagora to revitalize the 31-hectare Bois de Wadergnies. By restoring wetlands and forest habitats, we’re creating rich ecosystems and making this beautiful area accessible to the public through a discovery trail!     🌳 In Kampenhout’s Steentjesbos, our collaboration with Natuurpunt is helping to plant new forests, ensuring a greener tomorrow. skeyes outperforms punctuality targets amidst European Air Traffic challenges ✈️     ✅We are excited to announce that skeyes has achieved remarkable results in maintaining #punctuality despite the broader challenges facing European air traffic.     ➡While on-time performance across #Europe has been in decline, reaching its lowest point in over 20 years, skeyes has not only met but exceeded its targets, according to a recent article in De Tijd. This accomplishment comes amidst a difficult environment where traffic levels have not yet returned to pre-COVID highs and staff shortages are impacting the entire industry🕒 🌍 During the COVID-19 pandemic, skeyes chose to maintain its #training and #recruitment strategy. ✈️ Exciting visit to SMATSA in Belgrado!      Our CEO, Johan Decuyper, and COO, Peggy Devestel, recently had the opportunity to meet with SMATSA (Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency). They took a tour of the Area Control Center (ACC), the impressive new air traffic control tower and their training facilities.      This visit was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen our partnership and exchange insights on the latest advancements in air traffic management.
