🌟 New project in the Netherlands! 🌟 🤝 BESIX NL partnered with SBE for the design works on the Krammersluizen. SBE will be responsible for the preliminary design, detailed design, and execution design for the renovation of the five rolling gates of the navigation locks for push tows. The upgrades include installing butterfly valves, making the under carriages detachable, and modifying the buoyancy chambers. Rijkswaterstaat awarded this renovation project to the ZEEKR consortium. This collaboration involves BESIX NL as the main contractor, along with partners BESIX Unitec, Croonwolter&dros, DEMAKO, Iemants (part of Smulders) and Bosch Rexroth. Our sincere thanks to BESIX for this wonderful opportunity and best of luck to the project team! For more details, visit our project page ⏩ https://lnkd.in/exRGQunA

The route highlighted the impressive Jacques Rogge Bridge, designed by #teamSBE. Our colleague and #expertatplay Tom De Soete provided insightful technical explanations on the bridge during the cyclists' visit. The tour, titled "Bonding and Bridging: A visit on the Cycling Highway F7," showcased approximately 25 km of cycling highways, bridges, and various safety measures that make cycling an ideal mode of transport in Flanders. 🚴♂️💨 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳? 🚢✨ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘆𝘀𝗹𝘂𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰! After three years of renovation works, all eight lock gates are operational again. The Demeysluis, which connects the inner and outer harbors of Stad Oostende, has a history spanning over 120 years. Initially equipped with wooden lock gates and culverts for levelling the lock, they were upgraded in the early 2000s to steel gates with built-in levelling sliding valves. In 2017, during repainting works on the lock gates, several issues were discovered, leading to a thorough damage assessment. Problems included damaged structural elements of the top hinge, alignment issues between the gates and the civil works and between both gate leafs and potential fatigue damage. #teamSBE 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 taking into account uneven distribution on the gate bearings and determined a fatigue damage assessment for the steel structure of the lock gate. The analysis covered both high-type flood gates on the sea side and lower ebb gates. 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱:  ✅ Strengthening the pintle anchorage  ✅ Modifying the assembly of the top hinge  ✅ Modifying weld detailing locally at the bearings of the lock gates ✅ Adjusting drive settings of the levelling sliding valves #teamSBE assisted the client Departement Mobiliteit en Openbare Werken - Vlaamse overheid during execution of the works. Despite challenges like original design constraints and the need to keep the lock operational during updates, we ensured the Demeysluis's reliability and functionality. A special thanks to HYE NV DEMAKO - Oil - Deroeck and all involved parties for their hard work and dedication. #expertsatplay
