🧠 World Brain Day: "Brain Health and Prevention" 🌍 At RPP, we emphasise the importance of educating communities on risk factors, early symptoms, and lifestyle choices to promote brain health and prevent brain diseases. Ageing naturally affects brain cells, making active and healthy ageing practices crucial. Physical activity, nutritious diets, cognitive stimulation, and social engagement are key to maintaining brain health. 🧑⚕️ But the elderly are not the only ones affected. Brain diseases like Multiple Sclerosis (MS) often affect younger adults, with women being disproportionately impacted. MS disrupts physical health, education, career, and family life. Therefore, comprehensive support systems, including rehabilitation, social networks, and inclusive employment policies, are vital. 🤝 RPP's holistic approach addresses the unique challenges of each brain disorder while promoting overall mental wellbeing. #WorldBrainDay #BrainHealth #HealthyAgeing #MultipleSclerosis #RPPGroup

🚀 Exciting Update from the European Parliament! 🚀 The political groups have tentatively agreed on committee chairmanships for the first half of the 2024-2029 term: 🔹 ENVI Committee (Environment, Public Health and Food Safety): Presidency goes to the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament. 🔹 SANT Subcommittee (Public Health): Remains with the European People's Party as a non-legislative sub-committee. While there was strong momentum for a separate legislative committee on public health, no consensus was reached. However, this doesn’t mean public health is being de-prioritized. The drive for closer collaboration on public health remains strong, and this procedural step will likely be addressed during the legislature. The new European Commission’s composition and the distribution of Units among the Directorates-General will heavily influence future health policies and legislative files. The balance between environment and public health topics in the ENVI committee will be crucial. The Chairmanship of the ENVI committee will play a key role in maintaining this balance. Next Steps: • July 11: Conference of Presidents to adopt the agreement. • July 16-19: Committee appointments. • July 23: Formal committee bureau appointments. Stay tuned as we continue to monitor these developments! 🌍🩺 #EU #EuropeanParliament #ENVI #SANT #Policy #Leadership

🗳️ Key Insights from the Second Round of the French Elections ❓ In an unpredictable election, France's voters have created a National Assembly without a majority, centered around three political groups. This threatens to create a period of ungovernability. On the other hand, these results mark the return of "parliamentarism", with a potential reinforcement of parliamentary initiative, compared to the 2 previous terms. 📈 The Nouveau Front Populaire (NFP) has emerged as the winner with 182 seats, while Ensemble (presidential coalition) retained 168 seats. The far-right Rassemblement National (RN)secured 143 seats. However, in number of voices, the Rassemblement National arrives first. This poses the difficult question of the application of a left-wing programme that a majority of voters will not want.   The presidential majority (Renaissance) arrives in a healthy 2nd position - a damage-control result, that consolidates the position of the President and gives him legitimacy. The National Assembly is now tripartite with no absolute majority, raising concerns over France's governability. What does this mean for France, for the European Union, and for public affairs? 💊 Health policy has been fairly absent from the campaign, overshadowed by security and defense issues. Many key MPs in health policy were re-elected, but we can expect a loss of influence for those coming from the presidential coalition. New faces will play critical roles in shaping future reforms. The next social security budget is at stake, and budgetary texts will be the first crash test of the new parliament. 📅 Who will be the key MPs engaged in health policy after the second round on July 7th? Check out our report below to know more! 🇪🇺 France's difficult governability will weaken its EU position, during at least a year of high stakes as it coincides with the onset of the new European Commission. On the other hand, the establishment of the new European group "Patriots" and the composition of other far-right-wing groups in the EU Parliament should be resolved soon. 🇫🇷 To discover how RPP's 20 years of experience can serve you to navigate this new scenario, contact the Paris team (Salomé Chelli-Enriquez, Arnaud Jacquier, Antoine Canu) to discuss how to organise a strategic political foresight workshop in September. #FrenchElections #PoliticalAnalysis #HealthcarePolicy #ImpactAdvocacy

🗳️ UK General Election 2024 - Results are In! RPP is now offering 1:1 sessions to help you understand and analyse the impact of a new government for your business and how to make the most of the new figures in politics.    Labour, with a commanding majority, can go ahead with their plan to bring significant change to the UK, especially in reforms to the health care system. Read our full report, published later this morning, further unpacking Labour's policy plan and what the results mean for the country.  Here are details of what happened so far:   ➡️ Keir Starmer will be the new Prime Minister after a significant Labour landslide victory at the cost of the Conservatives, who are reduced to just 119 seats, their lowest ever total. ➡️ Huge gains for the Liberal Democrats making them the third-largest party, with Reform UK entering Parliament for the first time with 4 seats, despite receiving an estimated 14.3% of the popular vote. ➡️ Nationalism is rejected in Scotland with a huge loss in SNP seats at the expense of the Lib Dems and Labour. Elsewhere is the Union national sentiment rises as Sinn Fein becomes the largest Party in Northern Ireland for the first time after DUP losses and Wales' Plaid Cymru secured an additional 2 seats.   Please contact Benjamin Smith ([email protected]) to arrange a session. #UKHealthcare #GeneralElection2024 #HealthPolicy #PublicAffairs
