At Intermodal Marketplace, over 500 professionals have gathered with a common goal: to explore and boost cargo transport by rail, barge or shortsea shipping! 🚆🚢 Just like the cargo, the participants were brought by train through the port platform of Zeebrugge. 🛤 The exceptional journey pictured all intermodal highlights of the port. To celebrate this unique train ride, the Mayor of Stad Brugge Dirk De fauw received a special ‘rides plate’. About us
Port of Antwerp-Bruges is a centuries-old double gateway to Europe and one of the biggest ports in the world. Follow us for the latest updates on how we’re working hard to become the port of the future, in tune with the world. We are the port authority. This means we play a key role in the port's day-to-day operations, to make it function and grow. We manage and maintain the docks, the bridges, the locks, the quay walls and the land. We’re also responsible for safe shipping traffic there. Apart from that, we provide tugs and cranes, carry out dredging work and promote the #PortofAntwerpBruges at home and abroad. We have a strong focus on the future, with sustainable development, transition and resilience as our top priorities.

In the 1980s, Daniel started as a docker. Soon after, he switched to Roll on Roll off (RORO) ships. These are ships that load and unload cars. Visit his old workplace, a car terminal in Zeebrugge, with him and Aurélie Roggeman. And find out why Port of Antwerp-Bruges is the largest car port in the world: https://bit.ly/3Nso397. #TheSeaniors #RORO

After nine months in 2024, our total #throughput amounted to 210.5 million tonnes, indicating a rise of 3% compared to the same period last year and a stabilisation relative to the second quarter of this year. 📈 While demand for container transport remains strong, the ongoing geopolitical and economic instability affects other cargo types. Despite the challenging market conditions, our port stays committed to investing in innovative and sustainable projects focused on the energy transition and industrial growth. More details on 📊 https://lnkd.in/eS5ePGs5.

Indaver generates a lot of excess heat through the incineration of industrial waste. 🔥 In our port, we have found an innovative way to ensure this valuable energy is not lost. Through a network of pipelines, Indaver shares this heat with Boortmalt, which uses it in its malting process. And it doesn’t stop there: the cooled water is sent back to Indaver for reuse. This is a great example of how industrial collaboration can contribute to a more sustainable future. ♻️ For a more detailed understanding of this innovative energy-sharing collaboration, we invite you to watch the video.

The renovation of dry dock 5 at the EDR Antwerp Shipyard has been completed! 🙌 In cooperation with EDR we renewed electromechanical installations, pumps, the dock door and other maritime infrastructure. EDR itself focused on renovating the site and constructing new buildings. During a second investment wave, we will also renew the central dry docks. Keep following us for more updates! ⚓
Proof of #ESG leadership within the repair and drydocking scene in Europe! The result of 5 years of preparation and execution - #drydock 5 at EDR Antwerp Shipyard is back in business! The fully renovated dock 5 (measuring 265 m by 39 m) underwent concrete renewal, dock door renovation (weighing 220 t), reactivation of 40 ton travelling crane and 100 ton fixed crane, renovation of 2 large main pumps and so much more. An excellent cooperation between HYE NV EQUANS Port of Antwerp-Bruges A special thanks to Bart Van Pelt, Alexander Van Sanden and our very own Stefaan Bal! #wecare #shiprepair #investments #maritimeindustry #dedication #shipyard #drydocking

Yesterday, we won the #IAPH2024 Sustainability Award in the category Environmental Care with our Species Protection Program. 🙏 This program, established in 2022, focuses on 90 protected plant and animal species in our port (for five years until 2027). In partnership with Natuurpunt, we want to ensure that by 2027, targeted conservation efforts have been applied to a group of protected port specific species. Historically, obtaining permits for new infrastructure in areas inhabited by protected species was challenging, often leading to delays or rejections. To address this, the Port Authority has founded the Species Protection Program. Measures in both ecological corridors and core areas ensure that while companies can proceed with necessary developments, the protected species have sufficient habitats to thrive. 🌱 We are very grateful that our efforts are recognised by International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH). Also, we’d like to congratulate our partners, the Port Authority of Cotonou in Benin on winning the award in the Community Building category, and Porto do Açu on winning in the Infrastructure category. 👏 The Port Authority of Cotonou’s initiative to relocate food vendors from the street to a secure, dedicated facility adjacent to the port is an admirable and impactful project. With the Low-Carbon Hydrogen and Derivatives Hub, Porto do Açu sets a model for future industrial clusters in ports, driving regional development, job creation, and long-term positive impacts across entire value chain. ♻ 🖼️ International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) 📸 Richard Langdon
