🚀 Today, we are thrilled to unveil Political Intelligence's Digital Team’s independent analysis of the results of the public consultation on the European Commission White Paper: “How to Master Europe’s Digital Infrastructure Needs?”. 🔍 Our study reveals the following takeaways: 1️⃣ A significant majority of respondents oppose the White Paper's proposals, particularly concerning the regulation of the #interconnection market, the extension of the European Electronic Communications Code, and the inclusion of new contributors under Universal Service Obligations. 2️⃣ The proposal for further intervention in the interconnection market, specifically the introduction of a #disputeresolution mechanism between Content Application Providers (CAPs) and Internet Service Providers (#ISPs), stands out as the most criticized element. 3️⃣ Across the various workstreams analysed, we noted a concerning trend of stakeholder abstention in responses. 💪💚 The (CST) team work makes the dream work!   Last week, our Cross Sectorial Team travelled to beautiful Maastricht for an exciting two-day seminar.   It was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen our team dynamics, reflect on ongoing projects, and explore areas for collaboration. As the CST team operates at the crossroads of key policy areas - such as transport, mobility, energy, sustainability, and food and health - we took the time to identify potential synergies, define future priorities, set clear and concrete goals, and establish key milestones for the months ahead.   But it was not all work and no fun! We also enjoyed a delightful tour and wine tasting session at Apostelhoeve vineyard, and explored the heart of Maastricht with a tour and lunch in the city center.   At Political Intelligence, we believe that the main drive of success resides in our people. That is why we combine professional excellence and expertise with fun, engagement, and connection.

As we look ahead to the new mandate, we are excited to follow the upcoming confirmation hearings for more insights on the future of #EUDigitalPolicy!

This week, our team at Political Intelligence had the privilege of sending a large delegation to the Bepact - Belgian Public Affairs Community Summer School 2024 in the beautiful city of Mons, the heart of the Hainaut province. Over three days, our Belgian consultants immersed themselves in highly insightful discussions, participated in engaging networking opportunities with other Public Affairs professionals, and gained valuable perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of a new legislature in Belgium. Incredibly honoured to be re-elected as board member and treasurer of PACE - Public Affairs Community of Europe on behalf of Bepact - Belgian Public Affairs Community. PACE is a unique forum bringing together #publicaffairs professionals from across 17 member countries and the EU to exchange insights and best practices on #transparency and #integrity in public affairs. On that note, I am very pleased to be able to share that also EPACA - The European Public Affairs Consultancies' Association has joined PACE as a member, thereby formalising the excellent relationship between both associations with a similar mission. My warmest congratulations to our excellent host and new president, Laura Florea, as well as outgoing president Maria Rosa Rotondo who will continue to work in service of PACE as honorary president. Excited to together continue building the European public affairs community for many generations to come!

How can Belgian #publicaffairs professionals have an impact on policies being shaped at the EU level? To answer this - and many other - questions, Political Intelligence hosted the 4th session of the VBO FEB Public Affairs Academy 2024. Otto Von Bismarck once said that laws are like sausages: it’s better not to know how they are being made. Yet, understanding the EU policymaking process is crucial for knowing when, where and how to influence it. Therefore, we identified the 'access points' PA professionals can use at EU level, as well as explain how Belgium's position for the Council is determined. Finally, we zoomed in on important 'cultural' differences that are specific to Belgian vs. Belgian. European public affairs. Big thanks to Johan Van Praet and Linne De Neef for their trust and of course my colleagues Quentin, Jonas, Han and Melissa for their incredible effort.
