Today, on World Alzheimer's Day, we want to shed light on an upcoming MoMu project! In Flanders, more than 141,000 people are currently living with dementia. This number is expected to increase significantly. Many tactile aids already exist within the care offer, but fashion as an art form is a rather unique feature in healthcare. From October, several informal carers will create their own durable and sensory garment together with a person with (advanced) dementia, with elements that evoke memories from their own life story. This will take place at Immaculata residential care centre (WoonZorgNetwerk Edegem) under the guidance of two MoMu artists and care staff - with support from regionaal expertisecentrum dementie Orion ism PNG.
