🎰 The Month of MASJIEN 🎰 Summer is here, but Team Masjien isn't slowing down! Kicking off July: Jasmien started the month at the Antwerp Management School Summerschool for Responsible Fashion Management, inspiring future fashion professionals with her talk. Nice to see Flanders DC’s Semya Verlinden in the class room! Thanks Annick Schramme & Nathalie Verboven! Vogue Business Talks - Metamorphosis: Dialogues about Change: During Berlin Fashion Week, Fashion Council Germany hosted their talk series ‘METAMORPHOSIS – dialogues about change,’ powered by eBay and in partnership with Vogue Business. The content direction was done by Ann from #teammasjien. The panels featured enlightening discussions on sustainability, technology, and inclusivity in fashion with impressive international speakers. Including our very own Jasmien and Ann. Climate Fresk Workshops: Jasmien led two impactful workshops at Xandres and Flanders DC. Interested in booking your own session? Send us a DM! Closing Party reFLEXion: reFLEXion is about embracing technology that is enhancing creativity but also pushes new shapes of ownership.  reFLEXion helped us  understand the vast opportunities new concepts and technologies as web3, blockchain, virtual environments and digital identities are bringing to you, as a business owner but also you as a consumer. Thanks again to everyone who was involved - especially Nora Weytjens - and celebrated it’s closing at Brousse! Tomorrowland - Love Tomorrow: What better way to end July than on stage at Love Tomorrow 2024? Jasmien, alongside Joris Beckers (founder of Love Tomorrow), Love Tomorrow Project Lead Debbie Van Dijck, and Balázs Németh from Brussels Airlines discussed strategies for making the largest dance festival greener. She shared valuable insights on the impact of fashion, the challenges in driving change, and how we can collectively make a difference. Exciting News: Ann is now a proud member of the Green Lane Committee and part of the Brand New Vision (BNV) Foundation! We can't wait to see what August has in store for us! #pushingbuttonsandboundaries #anddeadline #recap #lovetomorrow2024 #climatefresk #voguebusiness

1.000.000 beers. That's the amount of beers consumed during 1 weekend of Belgium's fairytale dance festival Tomorrowland . During last years edition (2 weekends that is), visitors drank 764.658 liter of 🍺. During Jasmien 's keynote at the Love Tomorrow conference, she asked the audience how many t-shirts we could make with this amount (in water that is 😉). It's about 300. 😕 We talked about the impact of fashion, the challenges in creating change, and how we can collectively make a difference. Even though we had limited time to go in depth in conversation during our 'talkshow', Debbie Van Dijck & Joris Beckers shared some valuable insights diving into strategies for greening the world's largest dance festival. Balázs Németh talked about the aspect that has the highest footprint for the festival, visitor travel, and how Brussels Airlines tries to work together with the festival in lowering this impact. Thank you to our amazing host Aster Nzeyimana and to the audience for asking critical questions. The one thought Jasmien wrapped up the talkshow with? Being critical is important and it's crucial we keep asking questions and challenge each other to do better. But please, let's try to push one another forward in a positive way. We're all in this together. 💚 Oh, and off stage... #teammasjien had the best time catching up with like minded people and dancing during the festival. Masjien will be at Love Tomorrow Conference 2024 Love Tomorrow! 🎉 Prepare to explore the intersection of consciousness, innovation and entertainment as passionate people share their visions for a better, bolder, sustainable future on July 25. Never thought our own Jasmien would be on an actual Tomorrowland stage - not dancing or singing that is 😉 - holy grounds of De Schorre, here we come. 🎤 A festival is the representation of a small town. Next to music and dancing, there’s food, drinks and… garments. When talking about Tomorrowland’s impact, we need to look at every aspect of it.  In this talk, we’ll delve into the urgent need for transformation within the fashion industry.  We’ll ask (and maybe answer…) some key questions: Why is fashion so impactful? Why is it so hard to create change? And what can we do to make a difference?. From inspiring keynote speeches to electrifying DJ sets, live acts, and a job fair, this is a day you won't want to miss. 👯 Hyped to be part of an amazing line-up, including Boyan Slat, Rutger Bregman, Mauro Pawlowski, Dirk De Wachter, Average Rob, Inge Neven, William Boeva, Stefaan Vandist, Tom Duhoux and many more. Looking forward to going into conversation with Debbie Van Dijck, Joris Beckers & Balázs Németh. 👉 Secure your spot via the link: https://lnkd.in/eyG7ihdR #lovetomorrow2024 #keynote #panel #sustainability #innovation #sustainablefashion #lovetomorrow

🎰 the month of MASJIEN 🎰 We should call this post ‘the months of masjien’ as of now as it’s the 2nd time already we didn’t succeed to write this post monthly. So, let’s look back at the months of May & June! June started off with the opening of reFLEXion, a program focused on technology, fashion and identity at Brousse, Hasselt. The closing party is on July 12th, welcome to discover the installations that show how technology can impact creativity with computer generated imagery, digital fashion, AI,... We hosted our first ever Climate Fresk workshop with team masjien and a few industry friends. Together with Evelien Dils, Evelyn Lafond, Jolien Roedolf, Veerle Spaepen & Clio Gydé, we looked at causes & effects of climate change. 🩷 We love to share our knowledge and insights: - Feedback Lab Fashion (Flanders DC ) - A new Mentorship meetup with mentee Marie Bernadette Woehrl - Presentation on how to implement sustainability in your fashion business at MAD Brussels -Guest lecture at the University of Antwerp ‘Sustainability Management’ 🩷 European projects - We got the amazing news that the ‘Just Fashion’-proposal was granted under the EU Horizon programme. Jasmien wrote an essential part of this proposal for the University of Antwerp. - We had fruitful brainstorms on textile recycling, EPR, digital product passports & future legislation at the SCIRT Project User Board in Berlin - Jasmien discussed the challenges of textile-to-textile recycling in the ECOSYSTEX Insights Series - Supporting the European Fashion Alliance in defining the next steps to empower a prosperous European fashion eco-system. 🩷Press mentions - Jasmien on national tv news discussing toxic chemicals in our clothing - De Morgen on a greenwashing hunt: Jasmien noted that the inspectors mainly target companies that are already working on sustainability. “Those who invest and communicate are scrutinised. Those who do nothing remain under the radar.” 🩷Things you don’t see, but we do do - Say hi to the newest kid on the block: MOTOR, a fashion tech meetup. A new initiative, powered by Masjien, gathering experts, educators and entrepreneurs in the field of fashion digitisation. - We did some 1 on 1 consulting & catching up on sustainability efforts for Dries van Noten & Atelier Noterman. - Helped the Love Tomorrow lifestyle department setting up a strategy & process for sustainable sourcing. - Finalised the business plan & investment deck for La Levée, that will specialise in high-end, bespoke tailoring, with a focus on inclusivity, transparency and sustainability. - Helped Xandres to launch the ‘preloved corners’ in Ghent and Bruges, testing with new business models and circularity. - Ann shared her insights with the VITO team as they are building their research paper on digitalization in textiles. Soooooo ready to recharge our masjien over summer! #pushingbuttonsandboundaries #anddeadlines #2monthsrecap

Metamorphosis is a wrap!  This first edition - curated & hosted by Masjien - has been focusing on circularity, kickstarting insightful conversations, creating powerful connections. A program of 3 days, 6 panels and 2 keynotes, 30 voices (of which 80% women! ), in partnership with Vogue Business, Fashion Council Germany and eBay, part of Berlin Fashion Week, 250 participants. There is pressure on the current system, everyone agreed on that.  With Metamorphosis we wanted to highlight the importance of education of the ecosystem but also towards the end consumer, we all have a responsibility here. So Ann curated a mix of topics and voices, with several angles and experiences, that she also announced on stage, as the official host.  A few highlights: ✨ Jasmien kicked off day 1 with an insightful introduction to circularity, with a little help from Katy Perry (RoaRRRRR Refuse-Reduce-Reuse-Repurpose-Recycle) ✨Julia Ballardt emphasised the importance of developing your own style.  “Fashion may be seasonal, but style is timeless”.   ✨Professor Dilys Williams from Centre for Sustainable Fashion responded powerfully to the question, "But what about people who can't afford anything other than cheap fast fashion?" by stating, "I call BS! Research shows that it’s the middle to high-income class that is buying fast fashion." ✨ Liz Ricketts (The Or Foundation Ghana) made a poignant statement during Panel 2: Navigating Human Rights: "We create disposable fashion and we treat people as if they are disposable." ✨Michele Casucci sharing Certilogo S.p.A. ‘s DPP’s ✨ Panel 3: XR Retail Revolution kicked off with #teammasjien in full force with Jasmien as moderator and Ann as panellist, next to Mike Charalambous and Harald Sipple. “Every garment we produce digitally instead of physically is creating a positive impact, whether it’s in the design or in the communication phase” Ann Claes ✨ In How to implement AI in a responsible way, TUTIA SCHAAD acknowledged the human touch, at the beginning ànd curation of the end results.  ✨ We loved our moderators in action: Kirsty McGregor & Maliha Shoaib from Vogue Business, Kerstin Weng from VOGUE Germany and Dries Vriesacker from Enfts Terrible, all curious minds with great questions.  ✨And of course many more panelists, tagged in comment.  We gathered every evening for a dinner with the speakers, to introduce them to each other and kickstart the conversations already off stage. Valuable moments ànd lots of fun. Besides our own program we visited the 202030 – THE BERLIN FASHION SUMMIT (organised by studio MM04) and THE LISSOME event, where Dörte de Jesus showcased some wonderful creators.  Loved the selection Herbert Hofmann made for the Highsnobiety shop & discovered the Milk of Lime collection at Hotel Chateau Royal (as well as their Sous Vide 62° Negroni) Let’s keep on pushing buttons and boundaries, creating impact.  Together. ✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the dynamic discussions 🌿

Yesterday Jasmien facilitated her very first Climate Fresk. Climate what? Check the post below to find out!

sustainability professional of the year 2023 | Co-founder of Masjien, the agency for fashion, sustainability & technology

Yesterday I gave my first ever Climate Fresk workshop after completing my training. In order to take action and build solutions, we first need to understand the problem. Climate Fresk is a powerful tool for providing a quality climate education. It is accessible to anyone and can be scaled quickly within an organisation or community. In just 3 hours, the collaborative Climate Fresk workshop teaches you the fundamental science behind climate change and empower you to take action. It was a pleasure to host this first workshop with some of the most inspiring people that I can't simply put in a 'work' or 'friend' box :). Thank you for being a motivated, passionate, open and honest group Evelyn Lafond, Evelien Dils, Jolien Roedolf, Veerle Spaepen, Ann Claes and thank you for your support Fiore Farhand & Clio Gydé! After putting cards in a 'cause-effect' relation, you create your own 'fresk'. This team titled their Fresk 'Do Look Up', a reference to the Leo movie and a reminder to ourselves and others to not look away from what's happening in the world. Interested to play your part in the climate transition by joining the Climate Fresk movement with your brand? Reach out to us to book your workshop with #teammasjien
