📣 Statement: Calling for the recognition that the #MSCA deserves and increased budget to unlock its full potential 📣 The MCAA together with various organisations has launched a statement on the importance of the European Commission, European Parliament and Council of the European Union to recognise the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)'s invaluable contributions to Europe’s research and innovation by: 🔹 Increasing its budget 🔹 Maintaining its bottom-up research character With this statement, we express our concern about the #MSCA's absence in Mario Draghi’s report on the future of European competitiveness and the Mission Letters for the proposed Executive Vice-President for People, Skills and Preparedness and Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation. Marie Curie Alumni Association reposted this
📰 Marta Agostinho, EU-LIFE Executive Director, talked to Science Business about our recent report 'Insights & recommendations on the role of #ProjectManagers in collaborative #MSCA projects', published in collaboration with the Marie Curie Alumni Association and the MCAA Research Management Working Group ⬇️ 🎙️ “Project managers are not a burden; they are an added value. What we were trying to show is that they do more than complying and writing reports,” says Marta. “If we do not take care of these professionals, they will leave. These are very precarious jobs that require a high level of expertise.” She also stated that “it has to be very clear that this cannot come at the expense of removing funding from research. On the contrary, it's about how to leverage the resources for the common good.” #EuropeanResearch #ExcellentResearch
In large collaborative projects, project managers play a crucial yet undervalued role, often burdened with administrative tasks with little recognition or support. This challenge is particularly prominent within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (#MSCA) programme under #HorizonEurope. To address these issues, MSCA alumni and EU-LIFE recently hosted an event that generated key recommendations for improving support for project managers, highlighting their value in driving successful project outcomes. 📌 More: https://lnkd.in/ew3mGAgk
A call to action: it’s time to give project managers more recognition

Can mine water be a valuable resource for industry and society? 💦 While coal mining has long been a cornerstone of energy production and industrial growth globally, it poses significant environmental challenges, affecting the quality and quantity of water resources in and around the mining areas. However, with appropriate treatment, mine water can be optimised and used for domestic and irrigation purposes, helping minimise contamination risks to surface and groundwater resources and enhance the water supply in the area. Read more about the possibilities of repurposing mine water in this article written by Ashwani Kumar Tiwari, PhD (Jawaharlal Nehru University) for the latest edition of our newsletter: https://lnkd.in/eXCGySq9
