This year marks not only 40 years of imec, but also 40 years of a groundbreaking partnership with ASML. As Christophe Fouquet, CEO of ASML, shares: “From the very beginning, imec believed in ASML’s potential, helping us demonstrate our lithography technology when it was still gaining recognition. From day one, imec worked tirelessly with us, believing in and proving the viability of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology. Today, imec continues to drive progress with the High NA Lab, pushing our industry forward.” As we celebrate 40 years of collaboration with ASML, we are proud of the groundbreaking advancements we’ve achieved together in semiconductor technology. Here’s to many more years of innovation and success! ASML | #imec40years

"At imec, our diverse international team brings unique perspectives that enrich both our work and our lives." Meet John Morales, a research and development engineer based in Eindhoven. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, John’s journey took him through Belgium, where he completed his master’s and PhD, before settling in the Netherlands. Moving from the tropics to Europe, John reflects on the challenges and surprises of adapting to a new environment, from the lack of natural sunlight to navigating different cultures. “The perspective you hold is not the only lens through which the world can be perceived,” he shares, having experienced the diversity of customs and values through his international colleagues. Outside of work, John stays connected to his Colombian roots through dance, food, and the vibrant culture of his home country. Salsa, Arepas, and the lush landscapes of Colombia’s Sierra Nevada are just a few of the things that make him proud of where he’s from.
