Alongside nine other human rights organisations, we deeply regret the European Court of Human Rights’ ruling that #France has not violated the European Convention on Human Rights with its criminalisation legislation in relation to sex work. Collectively, we express our deep solidarity with the 261 #sexworkers, most of them migrants of different genders, who, despite their precarious situation, had the courage to unite and challenge the French state to oppose a law that puts their safety and health at risk. Our organisations will continue to strongly advocate for the full decriminalisation of sex work and the #humanrights of sex workers.

The European Commission published its 2024 #RuleOfLaw report, for the first time covering also Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. Many country chapters draw attention to rule of law deficiencies directly or indirectly impacting #LGBTI people, such as non-implementation of court judgments, smear campaigns, misinformation, shrinking civic space, and bias in areas of media and funding. Read the country chapters here: https://lnkd.in/d3cBsg7W Every year ILGA-Europe, with the expert input of our member organisations, contributes to the European Commission’s rule of law report consultation. ILGA-Europe reposted this
Earlier this month around 200 supporters of ILGA-Europe's work for LGBTI equality came together for our annual summer party to raise much needed funds. We chatted to some of the guests to find out why it was important for them to attend. Read our blog to hear from new MEP Carolina Morace, Veerle Van Hoorebeeck from law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, Margi Marchetti (they/them) from Mental Health Europe, Steve Loh from Google, Susanne Knoefel from DG Just, and trade union activists Jolanda van Gool and Patrick van der Pas. 🌈 From law firms and EU institutions to private sector companies, civil society groups working on a range of issues, trade unions, and policy-makers, the evening was a testament to the collective effort required to advance LGBTI human rights. 🌈
Our latest blog offers a sneak peek into our ILGA-Europe's #EqualityFundraiser2024, representing the diverse supporters and allies who attended. Learn how key partners from various sectors are contributing to advancing LGBTI human rights 👉 https://lnkd.in/ecAqUT_5

We attended the Global Trans Conference, that took place last weekend in Munich, Germany ahead of the #AIDS2024 Conference, with nearly 200 #trans and gender diverse activists and allies from around the world. Our Senior Policy Officer Cianán Russell (they/them) facilitated a strategic planning session on human rights mechanisms. The conference was a huge success and brought forth clear demands from the trans and gender diverse movement. Congratulations to GATE - Global Action for Trans Equality for an amazing inspiring event! #TransAgenda TGEU Ymania Brown MBA LL.M

Today on #ZeroHIVStigmaDay, we’re joining the call to create a world that supports people living with and affected by HIV that fosters community resilience and empowerment. #ZeroHIVStigma is only possible with ending stigma and discrimination in general. ILGA-Europe advocate for an intersectional approach to tackle anti-HIV and anti-LGBTI stigma and marginalisation. Zero HIV Stigma Day is in recognition of the birthday of legendary South African HIV Activist #PrudenceMabele, the first Black woman in South Africa who shared her status in 1992, setting a precedent emulated in today’s movement to speak openly about one’s status with loved ones and seek treatment and care. HIV stigma and discrimination have detrimental impacts on individuals and communities affected by #HIV, by reinforcing social injustices and hindering access to prevention, testing, care, support, and other resources.
