About us
FRUCOM is officially recognised by the European Institutions as the representative body of European traders in dried fruit & nuts, processed seafood, and processed fruit & vegetables. Mission & Objectives FRUCOM represents and defends the interests of trade in Dried Fruit, Edible nuts, Processed fish and Processed fruit & vegetables in Europe and beyond. Through effective communication and proactively engaging with relevant policymakers in the EU institutions, FRUCOM seeks to facilitate the trade of safe and quality products and ensure that its members are fully informed of the legal requirements. FRUCOM contributes to the visibility of the sector and to a favourable trading environment, and acts as the central network for members to interact amongst themselves and with wider constituencies. Products FRUCOM stands for FRUits, COnserves (cans), Miel (honey). Today, the association has evolved to representing mainly the trade in Dried Fruit & Nuts, Processed Seafood, and Processed Fruit & Vegetables. Although the focus differs for each product, the main issues that are relevant to FRUCOM work are related to Trade, Food Safety and Customs issues.

On 18 October, the joint FRUCOM-CEEREAL event took place in Brussels. Among the topics of discussion was #nutrition and #communication, and the dedicated panel focused on influencing nutritious food consumption and how to connect the science of nutrition with behaviour change. Today, CEEREAL & Frucom EU organised their joint agri-food conference emphasising the need to act together for healthier diets and more sustainable food systems. I was given the chance to moderate a panel on prospects for businesses/SMEs in the implementation of EU Environment and Sustainability policy together with amazing panelists Kathy Roussel Irene Moreno Gómez Paolo Mazzeo Lebo Mofolo. We have explored the intersection of sustainability reporting and due diligence with EU policies providing both high-level insights and practical strategies for businesses, especially SMEs, as they navigate these challenges and opportunities. A big thank you to the expert panelists and colleagues from Frucom EU and CEEREAL including Anna Boulova, Martina Zurli, Lebo Mofolo for organising this event! #sustainability #foodsystems #regulations

Today, CEEREAL & Frucom EU are organising their joint agri-food conference emphasising the need to act together for healthier diets and more sustainable food systems In her introductory speech, Ece Nevra Durukan, President of CEEREAL, emphasised that collective action is essential in addressing the dual challenge of promoting healthier diets and establishing more sustainable food systems: “While we have scientific knowledge regarding what constitutes a healthy diet, effecting behavioural change requires a collaborative effort involving information dissemination, communication, and education on the health benefits associated with the foods we consume. This can only be achieved through the cooperation of both the private and public sectors. The #WholeGrain Partnership serves as an exemplary model in this regard.” She added: “Adopting a plant-based diet significantly contributes to the development of more sustainable food systems, but even in this context, partnership across the entire value chain is crucial – from the farm to the fork, or as we express it in our CEEREAL manifesto: from seed to spoon.” The conference featured European Commission DG ENVI Director Aurel Ciobanu-Dordea and DG SANTE Director Klaus Berend as keynote speakers. They gave an outlook on what they believed is awaiting industry with regards to environmental and food-related legislation. Speakers on #foodsafety, #sustainability and #nutrition from both the EU and beyond completed the list of distinguished speakers who gave practical insights and examples on how cooperation can work for the benefit of the consumers, the public and private sectors.
