Met het behandelen van ondervoeding in de zorg kunnen we veel leed voorkomen en miljarden besparen. Dit blijkt uit een op 19 juni gepubliceerde gezondheidseconomische analyse. De uitkomsten waren onderwerp van gesprek in het NPO Radio 1 programma Nieuws en Co. VU hoogleraar Gezond ouder worden Marjolein Visser gaf aan niet verbaasd te zijn over de 3 miljard euro die ondervoeding Nederland jaarlijks kost: ‘De consequenties van ondervoeding zijn pittig, zowel op de korte als lange termijn’. Live in de uitzending was ook thuiszorgdiëtist Herma ten Have die samen met haar patiënt liet zien hoe je met goede begeleiding en advies het probleem kunt aanpakken.
