An important step for decarbonising European industry! 💪 🟢 Last month, the European Commission gave the green light to Germany’s €3 billion hydrogen network initiative, which aims to repurpose existing gas pipelines and build new ones to create hydrogen connections across multiple EU countries by 2025. For the #glass packaging industry, our ambition to decarbonise glassmaking will depend on having access to carbon-free energy – and that starts with ensuring Europe has the right infrastructure. 🤝 Support from policymakers will be instrumental in making this happen, which is why it was encouraging to see German ministers visit Ardagh Group’s Obernkirchen plant to get to know their #NextGenFurnace! Learn more about the visit: https://lnkd.in/djH8w5cF Read up on the planned hydrogen network: https://lnkd.in/dAGygUXF
Colleagues at our glass production facility in Obernkirchen, Germany were delighted to welcome Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck and Lower Saxony’s Minister for Economics, Transport, Construction and Digitalisation Olaf Lies. The ministers saw our groundbreaking #NextGenFurnace in action as it produced low-carbon glass packaging with its state-of-the-art hybrid technology. We are delighted to support these ministers in shining a light - at the federal and local level - on the needs of the glass packaging industry. Ardagh supports Germany’s goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2045 and is actively driving forward the #decarbonisation of glass packaging production. #ArdaghGlassPackaging #AGPEurope #sustainablepackaging #sustainableglass #lowcarbonglass
