FESI has joined forces with a coalition of 3️⃣1️⃣ leading European business associations to call for an ambitious and open #trade policy to support the EU’s competitiveness and economic prosperity. 🤝 Trade openness drives economic growth and job creation, with 1️⃣ in 5️⃣ EU jobs relying on exports. It benefits consumers by increasing choices, with 60% of Europeans acknowledging these advantages, and attracts foreign investments, fostering growth and innovation in the EU. Additionally, diversification in sourcing and exports enhances resilience and our ability to weather and overcome crises. Today, we call for: 🔹Strengthening the openness pillar of EU trade policy by pursuing new and renewed trade agreements and improving market access. 🔹Having a dedicated trade commissioner for this exclusive EU competence. 🔹Continuing to support the WTO and the international rules-based system to ensure a fair and predictable trade environment. 🔹Increasing cooperation with third country partners and deploying trade diplomacy to support an ambitious open trade policy. Hungary will also focus on reaching a political agreement (i.e. final compromise text). 🔹Green Claims Directive: The Hungarian Presidency will aim to achieve the greatest possible progress in the negotiations of the Green Claims Directive. 💻DIGITALISATION: 🔹Digital Services Act (DSA) & Digital Markets Act (DMA): Evaluating the implementation of these Regulations. 🔹AI Act: Preparing for AI Act implementation through consultations, exchanges of experiences and thematic events. 🤸♀️SPORT: 🔹Legacy of Major Sporting Events: A high-level conference will allow Member States to share their experiences, focusing on the broader social, cultural, and economic impacts of major sporting events.
