Scrum is an Agile framework, simply one of the most well-known and widely used. It’s a lightweight framework, based on values that help teams navigate and solve complex projects. What’s intriguing in our case is that “Scrum is based on empiricism and lean thinking.”
Initially, one might wonder what Lean has to do with Scrum. The Lean is more commonly associated with the production industry, while Scrum is primarily used in IT and software development.
Yet, that's what makes it interesting with couples - opposites attract. And that makes it even better !
The presentation of David Budin will focus on the connections between Scrum and Lean. Lean can be applied to any field; wherever there are processes, there's room for improvement, and lean tools can be utilized, even in IT. Incorporating these tools into day-to-day work within Scrum can help Scrum Masters master their skills and assist the team in improving their way of working.
One pivotal event in Scrum is the retrospective, where the team gathers to evaluate their performance as a team and identify areas for improvement. This session provides an ideal opportunity to utilize tools such as the VSM, Ishikawa diagram, or the Six Thinking Hats, for example.
During this session, David Budin from DT Services and Consulting will also share his experience as a Scrum Master who had the opportunity to become a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Combining these certifications has greatly benefited his day-to-day work skills.
